This route was planned by komoot.
Heinrich der l von Zweibrücken expanded Lemberg Castle in the 12th century. The Graf-Heinrich-Weg was named after him. Viewpoints like the Rabenstein, Ringberg and Ruppertstein were not granted to us today because of the fog. But beautiful forest pictures and mighty rock formations made of red sandstone make our tour more beautiful. The landscape in itself is a continuous and dominant rock experience. The rocky landscape of Maiblumenfels was the most beautiful of the hike with its fantastic view. Downhill we looked for the Klosterbrunn refuge, beautifully situated by small ponds and gigantic rocks. We had a great view of Lemberg and the Wasgau from the Langmühler Aussicht, but we had to earn it hard again. Finally, of course, a short tour of the medieval castle ruins of Lemberg.
Whenever I don't have a proper plan on a Sunday morning, the Graf-Heinrich Trail in Lemberg comes to mind. And today I finally decided on this trail. I started below Lemberg Castle, following the trail marked by a ghost on a blue background. Highlights include Rabenfels, Hummel, Ruppertstein, and Klosterbrunnen. A beautiful trail with plenty of places to rest.
Initially admiring the Langmühler view, we went on various forest paths to the Maiblumen-Fels, which could only be climbed after a climb. The forest paths were easy to walk up to the shelter of the PWV Lemberg (already the 3rd shelter on the way Michael!). This was followed by a longer section with wide, gravel forest roads. From the "steep" path up to the Ruppertstein, the hiking trails are again to my liking! After a short break on the Ruppertstein, we walked along the rock faces of the Hummelberg back to the Lemberg Castle hikers' car park. I had to skip the Rabenfels.
Nice round on the Graf Heinrich Weg! Great rocks, great paths (especially the section from Rabenfels to Ruppertstein), great views! We were only a little late today, so the last climb was very sweaty at midday temperatures! 🥵
Today again on a premium hiking trail in Wasgau: The Lemberg Graf-Heinrich-Weg. The start and finish for this route is the hiking car park at the Lemberg ruins. For me, the hiking trail has a nice combination of small, steep forest paths and wide forest paths. At the beginning of the tour, the first destination is the Raven Rocks, from whose viewing platform you have a beautiful view of Lemberg and the Lemberg ruins. The next point was the ring stone, which also offers a view of the Lemberg ruins. From this point on I left the official route and went over the Hummelberg ridge, past the Rolandseck rest area, as an interesting detour, back to the official tour. Then you reach the Ruppertsfelsen, which is also known as the Ruppertstein castle ruins. From here you can see the local community of Ruppertsweiler. The next stage destination is the Maiblumenfels. There are 2 viewing platforms here, only the last of which offers a view over the Wasgau. From here it goes downhill towards Klosterbrunnen and the PWV refuge of the same name. Now there are still a few steep meters of altitude to the lookout point Langmühlsicht, before you come back to the end of the tour via forest paths. The bottom line is a nice tour, which with almost 14 km and 440 hm (according to Komoot) was relatively demanding for me. I've already had tours with more km and hm that I found easier.
Today we had a wonderful tour near Lemberg: https://www.wanderarena.com/graf-heinrich-weg.html We were joined today by @Angelika @ernstwilmut and @Gunter Steiner which made the day just perfect! They had the sweet little fairy with them, which not only Curly was happy about. After the tour we had a nice end together in the PWV-Waldhaus Starkenbrunnen.
A very nice tour in the Palatinate Forest can only be recommended. The prospects are terrific
