This route was planned by komoot.
The trail offers a varied landscape, primarily traversing meadows and fields. You'll also find sections leading through the edge of a forest nature reserve around the Bellinger Berg, cultivated land, and even a small piece of heathland. The paths are generally well-maintained, consisting of hiking paths, forest trails, and some forest roads, with light ascents as it winds through the Kinzigtal valley.
Yes, the trail is generally considered easy to moderate and is accessible to most hikers with a basic level of fitness. While some sources list it as 'moderate', many describe it as 'very easy' due to its well-maintained paths and manageable elevation changes. It's a good option for families looking for a scenic outdoor experience.
A key highlight is the Bellinger Warte, a reconstructed medieval watchtower offering excellent panoramic views of the Kinzigtal valley and the wider Spessart region. You'll also enjoy a View of Bellings and a pleasant Path Along the Erlenbach. The trail passes through a nature reserve around the Bellinger Berg, known for its unique geological features and rare plant species.
While specific parking locations aren't detailed in the provided information, trails of this nature in the Hessian Spessart Nature Park typically have designated parking areas near the trailhead. It's advisable to check local signage or the official Spessart Tourism website for the most precise parking information before your visit.
Yes, the trail is generally dog-friendly. However, as parts of the route pass through a nature reserve and cultivated land, it's important to keep your dog on a leash to protect local wildlife and respect agricultural areas. Always ensure you clean up after your pet.
The Bellinger Berg- und Wartenspur can be enjoyed throughout much of the year. Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures and beautiful scenery, with blooming wildflowers or vibrant fall foliage. Summer is also suitable, but be prepared for warmer weather. Winter hiking is possible, but check local conditions for snow or ice, especially on forest paths.
Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for hiking on public trails like the Bellinger Berg- und Wartenspur within the Hessian Spessart Nature Park. However, always respect local regulations, especially concerning nature reserves, and stay on marked paths.
Yes, the recommended hiking direction for this trail is counter-clockwise. This direction often provides the best views or a more gradual ascent on certain sections, enhancing the overall hiking experience.
Yes, the route is part of the official "Spessartspuren - Bellinger Berg- und Wartenspur" and intersects with several other paths. You'll find sections that overlap with trails like "Spessart Biken (14) - 2-Täler-Tour", "Steinau a. d. Straße, Wanderweg 1", and the historic "Eselsweg".
While there are no specific facilities mentioned directly on the trail, the route is close to Steinau an der Straße, known as the "Brüder-Grimm-Stadt". This town likely offers various amenities such as cafes, restaurants, and accommodation options where you can refresh before or after your hike.

At the end of the year, I took on one of the two newest Spessart tracks 😊. After the weather in the last few days 🌧️🌧️🌧️ it was unsurprisingly sometimes very muddy. With the Bellinger Warte, the track has a nice highlight to offer. I just had to scramble up the Bellinger Berg, from where the track can also be started, curiously, so that I left the track for a short time. Following the actual route, with the path directly along the Erlenbach came the most beautiful part of the trail for me, simply wonderful 😍! Shortly before the end, I had to walk a few extra meters ... the thoughts 😂. Overall, I think it was a nice lap. I wish everyone here a happy new year and a happy new year!
Nice varied tour. What I liked best was the piece through the forest, along the Ahlersbach.
Following regional hiking trails – we started at the Bellinger Warte hiking car park. From there, we headed (counterclockwise) along the Spessart trail. The trail is very well signposted. The route is varied, winding between forest and fields. Several benches invite you to linger, but unfortunately, there are no trash cans along the entire 7km. Everyone, both humans and dogs, had a great time 🤩
Since it was still early in the day after the Ulmbacher Runde and we had just warmed up, Cole and I walked the Bellingerspur (it was almost on the way back). Very varied and beautiful views 😊 There are two entry points, here is the description from the "Bellinger Berg" hiking car park: Tour description: At the "Bellinger Berg" car park, you first walk around the Bellinger Berg on the edge of the forest nature reserve. The Erlenbach and later the Ahlersbach rush in the valley. It goes through meadows and fields north of the Bellinger Berg through the Kinzig valley. It then goes uphill towards the Bellinger Warte. A climb and the all-round view and the Kinzigtal and the Spessart are worthwhile here. South of the Bellinger Berg, you return to the hiking car park with views of Bellings.
https://www.spessart-tourismus.de/detail/id=61eebc5e7e8c480c6a968a7a Between Steinau and Bellings lies the Bellinger Berg hiking car park, where I set off. Although the trail through the forest begins beautifully and runs along the Erlenbach stream, I'm not entirely convinced at first. After leaving the forest, I'm greeted by a panoramic view of the highway, wind turbines, and power pylons. Komoot has also decided that I've reached my destination and simply aborts navigation without my consent. So I continue following the signs and quickly find myself on more beautiful paths with views of flowering trees, shrubs, and carpets of lesser celandine, which is now beginning to bloom bright yellow. The highlight of the tour is the Bellinger Warte (watchtower). One of four medieval watchtowers around Steinau, the Bellinger Warte is no longer in its original condition. The tower was rebuilt in the 1960s. A 24km circular route connects all four watchtowers. https://www.steinau.eu/smap---2634--default-.html The Spessart Trail "Bellinger Berg- und Wartenpur" also lies partly on the European cultural hiking trail "Eisenberg, Clay and Stuterei: Beyond the Bellinger Berg," on the Eselsweg (Donkey Trail), and on other hiking trails in the municipality of Steinau. https://www.steinau.eu/smap---4841--default-.html https://www.steinau.eu/cms.php?unid=4840 Overall, it was a really beautiful and highly recommended route. 😊
My end-of-year tour, very beautiful landscape. I wish everyone who follows me a happy new year with many beautiful tours combined with a lot of health 👍🌠🌿🌳🌲🏔️❤️🙂, your Michael
Today, on the holiday, we planned to hike the Spessart Trail in Steinau/Bellings. We entered via the access road at the "Bellinger Warte" hiking car park. Past the "Warte" (lookout point), we walked across meadows and fields to the Bellinger Berg hiking car park. And now, ATTENTION: We missed a signpost here and took a detour of about 3 kilometers around the Bellinger Berg. It was a very pleasant walk along beautiful forest paths, always accompanied by a beautiful bird song. When we reached the parking lot again, we realized that just a few meters beyond the "Bellinger Berg" parking lot, there was a small path to the right that led into the forest. Now we were back on the Spessart Trail!!!!! We continued on the right path through the forest nature reserve around the Bellinger Berg. The Erlenbach stream and later the Ahlersbach stream rush through the valley. We continued through meadows and fields north of the Bellinger Berg, offering beautiful views of the Kinzig Valley. Then we headed back uphill to the "Bellinger Warte" lookout point. We continued on with beautiful views of the Spessart Mountains. Today was a truly varied route. From wide forest roads to paths through tall grass and swampy forest trails, it really had everything.
