A little sporty round to the Drachenfels plateau and back through the nightingale valley. The path to the left at the castle courtyard is officially closed. But since the fence has not yet been completely pulled, you can still pass it on the side (left). The way back through the Nachtigallental was still quite wet and sometimes slippery.
Today we drove to Königswinter. Through the beautiful nightingale valley up to the Drachenfels. Unfortunately, it was very hazy almost the whole time and there was no visibility from there, that was when we visited in 2017, we had a really great view. Nevertheless, the tour was fun, we brought back old memories. More information here: https://app.qr-cityguide.de/mobile//mobile/poi/109
The ascent to the Drachenfels through the Nightingale Valley has something truly magical about it – this interplay of shadows, the sound of rushing water, and the sudden bursts of light as you climb higher. The Nightingale Valley was at its most beautiful today. The golden, damp path led alongside the babbling brook, surrounded by dense beech forest and steep rock faces. The tranquil atmosphere was particularly impressive – only the sound of the water broke the silence. A classic, atmospheric introduction to the Siebengebirge hills, and in spring, nightingales really do sing there – hence the name. And then, when you stand atop the Drachenfels, the hike feels almost like a little poem you've just finished.
Since we're already in the area of the 🐉 ⛰️, we have to visit them 🤩. A quick walk before the thunderstorm, where my 🍏 watch simply ignored the hm today 🤔... I didn't 😁. It's simply beautiful to see how quickly nature is waking up 💚🥀🥰.
So close... and never been there before. Today the Drachenfels. Very nice, except for that awful music on the tourist terrace...
Drachenburg Castle, built between 1882 and 1884, is one of the most important castle buildings of the late 19th century in Germany. Unfortunately, due to filming, a tour of the castle is not possible until April 4, 2025. We continued on to the Drachenfels plateau. From there, you have a magnificent view over the Rhine. The next destination was Wolkenburg, a hilltop castle that no longer exists on the mountain of the same name, which still stands 324 meters high today, in the Siebengebirge. A rarely used, very narrow path with trees crisscrossing the path and moss-covered stones, very mystical and only recommended with good tread. But a great section of the route. We returned via the Nachtigallental (Nightingale Valley): The valley in Königswinter used to serve practical purposes. In the 17th century, tuff rock was discovered in the Siebengebirge. It is ideal for building kilns. The tuff is heat-resistant and a very good heat storage agent. The stones were mined in the Siebengebirge Mountains for use in kiln construction. A few tunnels are located directly along the very scenic path, which leads directly back to the starting point.
With these spring temperatures, many hikers were out and about on the Drachenfels. We wish you all a nice New Year's Eve and a good year 2022! 🎉🍾🍀
After homemade cake and cookies🤩 in Bonn, nothing is more appealing than a walk up the Drachenfels. Since we had our next appointment looming, we hurried down into the valley on the Drachenfelsbahn. The price for a one-way trip down the valley is a hefty 22 euros for 2 adults and 2 dogs. The view from the Drachenfels into the Rhine Valley and over Bonn is magnificent. 🤩😊
