Trail Reviews

Höller Wolfgang HOAR
July 2, 2025, Hardegg Nationalparkhaus, Hennerweg + Umgebung erkunden

Today at lunchtime, we spontaneously took a trip to the Weinviertel region, specifically to Hardegg in the Retzerland region, to the RV parking space near the Thayatal National Park House. With a population of around 85, Hardegg is the smallest town in Austria. Hardegg lies in a narrow valley basin of the Thaya River, and a mighty castle towers above the town on a rocky ridge. After arriving today, we took a short hike to a viewpoint, the Hennerweg, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the town. There's also a lot to discover at the National Park House itself, including a pair of wildcats. The RV parking space is also perfect and very quiet. Tomorrow we'll hike into town and explore some hiking trails before getting the bikes ready in the coming days. ☝
