Today we set off quite early again. We did the first tour of the butterfly trails. We've been planning this for a long time. We hope to complete all four this year. The whole route is on very nice bike paths, no special skills are required. Pretty relaxed. No trails or anything else.
Beautiful tour starting in Oberwörnitz and driven clockwise. However, up to Leutershausen there were about 10 kilometers of gravel roads and a few nice but short climbs. We were alone with the beautiful nature for miles. Big advantage! The tour started almost directly at the motorway entrance.
Start at the parking lot at the Altenmühl Coordinates 49.29749, 10.4088 https://goo.gl/maps/BPUeKmHohqQSQc1P7
Today is the third round, the Red Butterfly, but also the hottest day with almost 30°C. A great rest stop in Bortenberg in the beer garden of the Gasthaus zur Linde, with freshly tapped non-alcoholic wheat beer and delicious ice cream. Unfortunately, I noticed my bike had a flat tire when I set off. So I put in a new tube and continued on and finished the tour. Then, unfortunately, I had to head back home 😮💨. The elevation gain is wrong again; it was only about 430 meters.
Today we tackled the red bicycle butterfly, which leads through a lot of nature. Sometimes I would have liked more paths away from the road - even if they were side roads. Leutershausen and Aurach are beautiful with their many stork nests. I've added a few pictures of my husband, who has the better camera 📷 😉🤩. The natural outdoor pool is also a great place to take a break.
Today the red wing of the wheel butterfly. As with the blue, the start and finish of this lap are in Schillingsfürst. The day started with heavy rain, which is why we postponed the departure to the late morning. As soon as it started, it started to rain again, so we drove almost 30 kilometers in rain gear because it kept "dripping". In addition, there was a strong headwind from the Altmühl. Even on this route, inns are rare, if you want to stop off, you should do so in Leutershausen (a lively town where the first German motorized pilot - Gustav Weiskopf - lived) or in Dombühl. The paths are mostly okay, but have a little more loose ground than on the blue wing. The GPS reports 60.4 kilometers and 618 meters in altitude.
We started in Aurach and always followed the well-signposted red 🦋 round. In Schillingsfürst we briefly switched to the green route because the red route would have gone around the outside. The path is very asphalt-heavy with constant ups and downs. I missed a bit of naturalness. We liked the piece from Schillingsfürst to Aurach a little better 🤗 Overall, unfortunately, few resting places.

Everything was re-signposted and marked with a butterfly as a tag. There are red, blue, red, and green butterflies.
