The beautiful circular hike to Mäkrä through the typical Finnish landscape in Koli National Park starts at the Ukko Nature Center in Koli. From here you hike to Ukko-Koli, from whose boulders you have great views of the lake landscape below you.

You continue along narrow paths and stone steps towards Mäkränaho. Here you cross a beautiful meadow with a picnic area. You then climb through the beautiful forest up to the 313 meter high Mäkrä with its impressive boulders. Along the boulder heap you reach the highest point of the hike.

The way back takes you across the Ikolanaho meadow, where you will also find a fire pit. Here you can take a leisurely break and grill the provisions you have brought with you. Then you hike with renewed energy via Mäkränaho and the Pieni-Koli back to the starting point of the tour.

Early in the morning we took the bus to the nearby Koli National Park. A small winter wonderland with snow-covered trees and numerous views over the huge lake awaited us there. During our lunch break we were able to warm ourselves by a campfire before climbing Ukko-Koli, the highest peak. In the evening we took the bus back home.
