Hiking
The rightly famous and impressive Fürstensteig offers fabulous views and sections carved into the rock, some of which are secured with ropes. For this circular hike, you should be sure-footed and have absolutely no fear of heights. Also find out about the weather and snow conditions in advance.
The starting point is at the car park at the Gaflei clinic, which you can also reach by public bus. The first few meters are relaxed until you turn onto a rooty forest path. You leave the forest and switch to the Fürstensteig, which meanders narrowly along the rock and leads you over small wooden bridges and stone fields. Dangerous spots are partially secured with a rope. Spectacular views of Vaduz and the Rhine Valley await you.
You continue to climb uphill with concentration, always along the edge of the abyss. Then you reach the Gafleisattel and can take a deep breath between fields of mountain pines. You hike down a gravel slope to a panoramic alpine pasture on the Bargällasattel – the geographical center of the principality. In the alpine hut there is cake and drinks for a well-deserved break before you return to the starting point on a wide gravel road.
