Panoramic route on Altendorfer Berg – VitalWeg 7

Nestled between idyllic ponds, open fields, and light forests, the VitalWeg 7 trail offers a breathtaking panorama of the Leine Valley. This circular route provides a welcome escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. On this hike, you'll explore the landscape around Altendorfer Berg. Challenging climbs reward you with views you'll remember for a long time.

The starting point is the "An den Teichen" (At the Ponds) hiking parking lot. You'll soon find yourself at the Großer Teich (Great Pond) in the Einbeck municipal forest – a tranquil beginning. For a while, you can watch the dragonflies dancing near the water's surface. Take a deep breath and then descend into the dense forest surrounding Burgberg (Castle Hill). At Sonnenberg (Sun Hill), the view opens up. On clear days, the summit of the Brocken mountain is visible in the distance. Field paths lead you past Negenborn.

Then the trail begins to climb. You ascend gently to Altendorfer Berg. From up here, the region presents itself in all its glory: rolling hills, open fields, and the Leine River winding its way powerfully through the valley come into view. After exploring everything between you and the horizon, you continue your hike through the Altendorfer Berg nature reserve. Calcareous grasslands, rare orchids, and juniper-covered slopes characterize the landscape here. Finally, you hike back to your starting point above the rooftops of Einbeck.

In Einbeck, you'll find a variety of places to eat and drink. If you plan to arrive by public transport, the "Am Weidenfeld/Teichenweg" bus stop is recommended as the starting point.
