Alp Epic Trail. The downhill and uphill passages are violent 🥵 Very busy with bikers and pedestrians on a Sunday with the best weather.
The "Alps Epic Trail" was awarded IMBA Epic Trail status in 2014. This places the Jakobshorn-Filisur route in the illustrious circle of the world's best mountain bike trails. "There are only three routes in the Alps that have made it onto the International Mountain Bike Association's 'Epic Rides' list. The Alps Epic Trail in Davos is one of them. And rightly so. One of the most beautiful tours you can ride. Super-chic trails, sometimes rocky, sometimes rooty, but never harder than S2, plus a breathtaking Alpine panorama make the Alps Epic Trail unforgettable. So, this won't be the last time I ride it 🤘
There are only three routes in the Alps that have made the International Mountain Bike Association's Epic Rides list. The Höhenweg through the Landwassertal near Davos is one of them.
Alp Epic Davos, another highlight. Summary right away. I was glad to have ridden an e-bike, even with that I was quite exhausted... You should definitely have the tour on your navigation device, there are simply no signs for the Epic. The most epic part begins at Jakobshorn, comparable to the Hackelberg Trail in Saalbach, maybe even better. To have fun and flow you need speed!!! Lots of stone slabs that can only be driven over at speed, otherwise it's no fun, but if it fits, it's infinitely cool. The 2nd section is torture for organic bikers and even E is extremely exhausting, as you have to know that you ride up the Sertig-Abirügg against the normal direction of travel. This trail is filled with many hikers from 10:00 am. In the meantime, however, a large part of the trail has been separated into hikers and bikers and is constantly being expanded. The next section is more strenuous than expected, but a lot of jostling with roots uphill, and always nice and narrow at the abyss. A visit to the brewery is worthwhile, definitely drinking fountain and economy there. The next section is also a bit of a trek, (200 m altitude difference :( just didn't see the descent, and really, no sign. But now it's into the gorge with the railway viaducts, impressive. What was still depressing, mugginess and rain ..... Then reached the train in the hailstorm. Battery at about 15% !!! The train ride was very nice until shortly before Monstein, then an emergency stop, fallen trees or something like that on the route, so we were stuck in a tunnel for about 30 minutes and then had to drive back. A few bikers got off, the rest of the train drove further back with the prospect of somehow getting to Davos via Chur. So with 15% remaining battery back from Wiesen to Davos with long stretches without support. But another hailstorm and we also saw the rescue helicopter, Sanka and many helpers, no idea what happened, but it was the reason for our train stop. About 1km before the hotel the battery was empty and there were still a few hm.... I'm sure I'll remember this Alp Epic a bit.....
The hm are wrong again after the Komoot Sync. Garmin Connect says: 2196hm climb

The Epic Alps Trail Davos was declared one of the best trails in the world by the IMBA in 2014. High expectations that need to be fulfilled. After shelling out 51 euros for the one-way trip to the Jakobshorn, the first half is pretty sobering... the trail is quite blocked with rocks and roots and with many long counter climbs. The landscape is very beautiful, but there is a lot of walking through the forest with no view. The second half, then very nice and flowing and fast to ride, partly exposed along the abyss with adrenaline input included, it couldn't be better. The final view of the Landwasser Viaduct concludes the tour before you take the train back to Davos.
After yesterday's relatively relaxed tour, today on the last day things really got down to business again. The full-length Alps Epic Trail was on the program. The first part from the Jakobshorn to the Oberen Alpe had a few uncomfortable stone fields at the beginning, but overall we made good progress. Then it went up and down (rather up) to Äbrügg with challenging obstacles again and again. Even with the e-bike in full support, it wasn't easy, but it was a lot of fun. From Monstein, after a short tar descent, we could turn back onto a trail that was super flowy to ride and spit us out again at the Landwehr Viaduct in the Zügen Gorge. From there, a beautiful, partly exposed path deep down in the Zügen gorge lured us to just before Filisur, where the next surprise awaited us: a historic train with wooden benches for the passengers and cattle cars for bike transport took us back to Davos, where we met were allowed to approve the well-deserved graduation beers (non-alcoholic, of course).

Well, the trail is nice, but the time of 4 hours can only be managed with absolute top condition and probably only with an e-bike. And then you can't see anything from the trail because you're just pedaling. For mere mortals with a Bio Bike, a time between 7 and 9 hours is more realistic
