La Pedrera reservoir and Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja: loop from Torrevieja

The adventure is circular from a car park in Torrevieja, very close to the natural park of the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja. Between the views of the pink waters of the Torrevieja lagoon, salt flats and palm groves, you advance towards the only climb of the day. Almost all the gradient of this route is accumulated in a pleasant ascent through the Mediterranean forest and almond plantations between San Miguel de Salinas and the port of Rebate.

From this height, where the views are spectacular, you descend through a sea of plots of almond and olive trees. The fertility of the landscape contradicts its desert appearance. Further on you find yourself before the turquoise views of the waters of the La Pedrera reservoir, surrounded by a sea of citrus trees. Between endless plantations and irrigation channels you reach the lagoons of Torrevieja and La Mata, an oasis for aquatic birds, especially flamingos. The route takes you to several viewpoints where you can take photos.

The route skirts, but does not enter, the different towns. This is why it is essential that you bring with you all the hydration and food you may need during the day. If you prefer, you can make a detour in San Miguel de Salinas, to make a brief stop.
