This dream trail, which starts in Trimbs, takes you to the idyllic river landscape of the Nette and to mighty slate cliffs. From the car park, you first follow the babbling Nette until you turn into Trimbs Switzerland. This impresses with its rugged cliffs and magnificent views. You walk through extensive fields up to Burberg, where you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Nettetal.
The Barbaraweg takes you along rock faces to former slate mines. Then you go back down into the idyllic Nettetal. Through sparse floodplain forests you reach the "Hausen 2" tunnel, through which trains used to roll and today cyclists pedal. At the end of the tunnel you can enjoy a great view of the Nette viaduct in the distance. You slowly make your way back to Trimbs via the Burgberg.

An unusually beautiful dream path. Thanks to the path father. This shows that voluntary arrangements are an enrichment for society.
Only a few kilometers apart and yet so different in landscape. Where yesterday the typical lava rock such as tuff and pumice predominated, today it was slate rock. At the beginning and end of the tour, we walked along narrow paths past rugged slate rocks and old mining pits, in between the idyllic river landscape of the Nette at whose small waterfall there was a lot of activity...logical, with these temperatures. The 300 m long, disused railway tunnel brought us the desired cooling today! There were always beautiful views...Kretzer's Lay, Burgberg or the Mühlenberg. Later on, it was so hot on the latter that we couldn't really enjoy it. The tour is definitely recommended ... very varied!
Today we were in the Vulkaneifel and walked the Nette-Schieferpfad dream trail. We hiked in the opposite direction to the usual walking direction, which meant that we had a section with a 25% gradient, but since this was right at the beginning, it saved us any major climbs at the end. Was a good decision. The tour is very varied, there is something for everyone. There are single trails through the forest, mountain hiking trails with rocky sections, past fields or on narrow paths along the small river, very beautiful paths with some viewpoints and rest areas. After about 2 km we went through an approximately 300 m long illuminated tunnel, which you can also walk around if you don't want to go through it. There is also a small waterfall on the route, nothing spectacular, but a good place for e.g. B. to give a dog a cool down. The route is around 10.3 km long and has around 275 meters in altitude (GPS watch), Komoot once again miscalculated a bit. The tour is absolutely not suitable for strollers, but can still be managed with older children as long as they have a certain level of surefootedness. Final conclusion: 👍👍
This dream path deserves its name. Great!
A great, challenging trail for dry weather. Good parking, excellent signage, and well-maintained paths. Varied sections and fantastic views. The hiking trail is rightfully dubbed a "dream trail." Highly recommended.
On the last day of the year, just go out again, move around, feel the cold air! Review the year! What/who can go...should stay Where am I...where do I want to go... A peaceful New Year's Eve to all of you🥂 and all the best for 2025, good health, and continued great tours with wonderful experiences and nice encounters 🍀
