This route was planned by komoot.
Today on the Traumpfad Heidehimmel in glorious weather ☀️ it leads over the striking Riethelkreuz through the Volkesfeld juniper heaths with the original Wabener Heide and with ever new wide views of the Nettetal. A wonderful tour 🥾🎒
In dream weather on the dream path and Volksfelde. The paths are again very well signposted and easy to walk on. The round is highly recommended.
As usual with the dream loops, this is very well signposted. There are also plenty of benches. If the visibility was clear, you would also have beautiful views...
A longer round was actually planned for today, but there wasn't enough time for it. So the decision was made without further ado to follow this dream path. Despite the relatively good weather, the premium hiking trail was sparsely visited, so we were able to comfortably enjoy the beautiful views. We also had the swing on the Noorkopf (a few meters away from the dream path) all to ourselves. We rocked and listened to the trumpeting cranes flying overhead in several flocks. While the first half of the circular route was characterized by heathland with panoramic views, the second part focused on the light deciduous forest with great panoramic views. Finally, we took a strong sip from the healing spring ⛲ 👍🤗 Dream path: https://www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfad/heidehimmel-volkesfeld/
On the last sunny day in October, this little circular hike is just the thing! 🤩 It's only easy uphill and through forests and meadows up to the junipers above Wabern and Volkesfeld. Wide views and sunny places to take a break invite you to linger 😎. And nature still has a lot to offer in late autumn. Always happy 😊🙋🏻♂️
A very nice tour that I can only recommend. It is best to go when the gorse is blooming, it looks so wonderfully alive!
Dream path finale 🎉 After 26 completed circular routes, only the Volkesfeld heathland remained, which was now tackled as the conclusion of the dream path collection. Normally I would have taken the RB23 from Koblenz to Mendig and then from there the bus line 820 to Volkesfeld/Sauerbrunnenweg, from where I would have immediately boarded the dream path. However, since today, contrary to my usual belief and habit, I was not alone and my companion would not voluntarily board any public transport, we drove our beloved car to the Heilquelle hiking car park on the L83 in Nettetal and from there officially started the last dream path in the collection at the starting point. The tired winter had once again stretched out its long icy fingers during the night and covered the landscape with a blanket of snow a few centimeters thick, which glittered white under the now bright sun. After crossing the L83 and spotting a free-roaming Cameroon sheep on the side of the road (don't get run over, buddy!), we first go along a forest path, then turn right over a few steps and finally reach the forest path, slightly uphill. We pass a viewing platform, but the view from the plateau 1m higher is the same as from the path and we continue towards Volkesfeld. There we reach the Sauerbrunnenweg bus stop at the merrily bubbling fountain, where the bus that would normally have taken me there stops at that very moment. We turn left at the intersection, only to leave the road to the right shortly afterwards between houses and climb the Riethelkreuz over a whole bunch of steps and narrow serpentine paths. Once at the top, our gaze first falls back on Volkesfeld and then wanders over the original juniper heath, which stretches over wide, snow-covered and slightly hilly areas typical of the Eifel. The sun is shining, the snow is all over the place (WONDERFUL) and crunches delightfully under the soles of your feet and it's like pike soup 😅🧐🌬 We now walk over the gently sloping ridge towards "Am Riethel", the new development area in Volkesfeld (it's a bit surprising that villages with such a small population have something called a "new development area" 😅🧐 We first turn left and then right to leave the new development area again. If there was no snow, we would have seen the small green line on the asphalt at the last house, which is the starting line of the international Bobbycar races that take place every August. These even count towards the Bobbycar World Championship (actually! But if there are also world championships in pole sitting or imitating the rutting calls of local red deer, then why not that?) Volkesfeld is now circled to the left in the direction of travel. The paths are wide and flat and wonderful to walk on, although from time to time you enter private property, as can be seen from a sign at the side of the path. From this side you can see the Riethel cross opposite, before you walk almost imperceptibly downhill through a small forest passage. After crossing the K63, where it goes right to Wabern, I see the epitome of nostalgia at the westernmost edge of Volkesfeld.
More information about this dream path at: https://www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfad/heidehimmel-volkesfeld/ We will certainly run the circuit again in the spring when the weather is good to enjoy the views.
