From our hotel in Hausach we first took the train to Freudenstadt. The guest card € 1.50 per day entitles you to free travel on local transport Mon-Fri from 9 a.m. including bicycle transport. Sat and Sun all day. The tour leads through a wonderful natural valley (Murg), sometimes left and right, accompanied by the Murgtalbahn. Apart from a few small nasties, which were compensated for with a wonderful valley view, it almost always goes downhill in parts. The return trip was free of charge from Rastatt train station with a change in Offenburg to Hausach. Unfortunately, the Rastatt station is only now being modernized (elevator) and so we had a lot of trouble getting to the right platform. All in all, one of the most beautiful tours for us. The section from Freudenstadt to Baiersbronn was specially recorded as a “pre-tour” (crooked fingers😉).
Yesterday the fellow cyclists-pensioners were on tour🚴♀️🚴 The🚴♀️Murgtal cycle path🚴♂️(Tour de Murg) in the beautiful Black Forest. Despite a two-hour train ride and heavy rain during the night, there were seven of us🚴. The train ride to Freudenstadt was an experience as always 😱 The beautiful tour and the weather🌤️🌞 made for a great 🚴experience. It was lovely 😀 🚴
Tour 11.08.2024: 1862MP: Knühl bus bike trip: Murgtal cycle path -> Solo ride MP: among others Freudenstadt, Baiersbronn, Klosterreichenbach, Forbach, Langenbrand, Weisenbach, Obertsrot, Gernsbach, Gaggenau, Bad Rotenfels, Kuppenheim, Rastatt (Hopfenschlingel) We rode solo without the group, and we visited, among others: Freudenstadt Friedrichstal Baiersbronn Klosterreichenbach Rot Huzenbach Schwarzenberg Schönmünzach Kirschbaumwasen Raumünzach Forbach Gausbach Langenbrand Au im Murgtal Weisenbach Hilpertsau Obertsrot Gernsbach Hörden Ottenau Gaggenau Bad Rotenfels Oberndorf Kuppenheim Niederbühl Rastatt-Ludwigvorstadt (Hopfenschlingel final restaurant + loading of bikes) From Gaggenau onwards we saw less in order to get to the final point in Rastatt on time.
Another detour to the Black Forest: by train from Rastatt to Freudenstadt and back by bike through the beautiful Murg Valley. Although it is almost all downhill, there are some toxic climbs to be overcome. Since we left our luggage at the hotel, that wasn't a problem
Easy, relaxed tour....with the S-Bahn to Freudenstadt and then by bike down the mountain to Rastatt😄.....almost....from time to time there are short climbs....with something Anyone who is slack can manage the 66 km..... few pictures today.... always stopping and digging out the mobile phone would have disturbed the journey all the time.... very nice route.... in some places even ravine character
Great, varied tour! If it hadn't been for the two detours (near Friedrichstal at km 5.7 and before Huzenbach at km 19.2), there would have been hardly any inclines. Parked the car in Rastatt for free at the "Am Grün" car park and then cycled the 1.2 km to the Rastatt train station. From there we took the S-Bahn to Freudenstadt Stadt and had a second breakfast on the market square there, probably the largest in Germany. After that it went steeply downhill, but then leisurely through the lovely Murg Valley. Almost 70 km! 1 battery was enough.
Very nice tour with good signposting and many sights, we went back with the S-Bahn
At the end of the week another bike ride 😁 From Rastatt by train to Freudenstadt. There the Murgtalradweg starts directly at the city train station. There were two detours all the way, so don't be surprised for those who know the tour, I didn't get lost 🤣 I was always amazed because people with cameras were sitting and waiting along the way. After a short googling it was clear why - today is a steam train ride 🚂 Had a good seat right next to the tracks when the train came. The tour was nice, there were enough benches and places to stop.

Arrival tip on Sundays and public holidays:
The “Murgtäler” leisure express runs between Mannheim and Freudenstadt. The multi-purpose compartments for taking bicycles are ideal for cyclists who want to start their exploration of the wild and romantic Murg Valley in Gaggenau, Gernsbach, Forbach or Baiersbronn
