This route was planned by komoot.
Today we were able to enjoy the Kappelrodecker Hexensteig with friends. The quality path led us through mystical witch forests via great refreshment stops to breathtaking panoramic views. It was a great day of hiking in the best weather :-)
Yippee...we tackled the Hexensteig today. This one had been on our to-do list for a while. It was challenging due to the elevation gain, but manageable. A varied tour that was very entertaining. Lunch/Kaiserschmarrn at Fiesemichel, which is exactly halfway along the trail. So, it was perfect...😉
Beautiful, very varied tour - forest, vines, orchards, rocky path, great views of Hornisgrinde and the Upper Rhine Valley, the altitude meters are distributed in a pleasant way.
Even though the tour does not only take you along narrow paths but also occasionally along wide paths and sometimes even short stretches of asphalt, we enjoyed it a lot. This is certainly also due to the perfect weather. We also liked the many beautifully designed rest areas with drinking fountains, etc. We took a long break at the "Fiesenmichel". We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant and the range of food on offer. We saved ourselves the detour to the nearby rocks today as we had already seen them yesterday on the rock path.
No beautiful country. As I wander through the landscape, the melody comes to mind first, then the lyrics. Instead of "Witches' Trail," "No beautiful country" seems to me a nicer and more fitting name for today's experience. With every meter of altitude you gain, the view of the Rhine plain and the Vosges becomes more impressive. The softly formed landscape alone makes you a little euphoric. The drinks fountains do the rest. True to the motto "sun in the heart and nonsense in the head," you want to get to the bottom of the region's products. Since many products are not only delicious but also have a good alcohol content, a coffee or tea will do. Incidentally, the first drinks fountain, the Backhiesel, offers hiking food to take away, among other things. https://www.backhiesel.de/ https://www.obsthof-graf.de/ https://www.fiesemichel.de/contents/fm_vesperkarte.htm https://www.heidenhofbrennerei.de/ (I took the 1835 with me). PS: Great video to get you in the mood.
Who dares Wins! A really great tour for two. On the way to Kappelrodeck we were still worried about the weather, but then decided to do the tour in light rain. Even after the first few 100 steps it was clear that the courage to take a gap was worth it and we were able to experience a varied, fun and all-round great tour!
Finally, the timing worked out to do the long-planned tour with Alex. The starting point was the Zuckerberg Castle. From the starting board, the route goes steadily uphill through the Zuckerberg Park to the Hexensessel. From there you have a view of Rodeck Castle. Over the Altenberg we get to the Backhisel. Further along the path we come to the schnapps fountain at Zinselsbure Hof. Now we go through the Hexenwald. A narrow trail leads us uphill. Once at the top, we go to the Schwend. Continuing to follow the signs, we reach the soldiers' graves. The Kappelrodecker and Lautenbacher Hexensteig meet at the Fiesemichel. After a refreshment at the Fiesemichel, we continue to the Rappenschrofen to the Simmersbacher Kreuz. From there we go to the Hexenplatz with a beautiful witch's house. Past the Katzenschrofen and Blaubronn we reach the Bürstenstein. From the Bürstenstein there is a beautiful view all the way to the Vosges. Now it's a steady downhill ride past the Heidenhöfen back to the Zuckerberschloss. A beautiful tour with fantastic views of the Achertal, Renchtal, Strasbourg and the Vosges.
After three weeks of compulsory break, I finally went on a hike again. Since a lumbago put me out of action, the Hexensteig in Kappelrodeck was appropriately tackled today :-)
