This circular tour takes me through an extraordinary national park in beautiful sunshine: Nieuw Land, the world's largest nature reserve created by land reclamation, lies between Almere and Lelystad, the capital of Flevoland. I choose the Waterhout campsite near Almere, which is on the route, as the starting point for my tour. The idyllic cycle path leads me through lush greenery, over small bridges to the Markermeer. Here, the horizon widens, revealing a view of the water, and the early morning sun bathes the landscape in soft light. Before I delve deeper into the Oostvaardersplassen Nature Park, I make a detour to the working island of Lelystad, which served as a starting point for dike construction in the 1950s. Afterwards, I visit the shipyard in Batavialand and finally return to the nature park. The Oostvaardersplassen information and nature experience center invite me to take a break and explore the unique flora and fauna before concluding my tour at the Waterhout campsite. Waterhout, by the way, means water forest and aptly describes today's excursion.
Accidentally deleted the tour 🤔 therefore without "Herzerl" and comments
