Hiking
On the Cape Split Trail, youβll hike through a dense coastal forest to the very tip of a unique headland. Expect breathtaking views of steep cliffs that rise impressively above the Bay of Fundyβs restless tides, visited only by seabirds.
This well-marked hiking trail will take you to several excellent viewpoints. The wooden platform at Minas Basin Lookoff affords a view of the wide estuary, in contrast to the surrounding woodland, while the panorama at Cape Split is undoubtedly the most spectacular. Its wide, gently sloping meadow is the perfect place for a picnic with high cliffs and the sea providing a dynamic backdrop.
As opposed to the out-and-back detailed here, youβll have the option of extending the hike by taking the Scots Bay Trail, creating a loop that boasts yet more charming viewpoints. If you plan to hike with children or a dog, be aware of the dangerous drop-offs at Cape Split.
