Montfort Castle

„The magnificent ruin of Montfort, situated on a headland – the most beautiful I have ever seen.“ This is how Annette von Droste-Hülshoff describes the Montfort ruin in one of her letters, which was, however, demolished in 1861 to make way for a „fairytale castle“.

Built in 1866 in the Moorish style, Montfort Castle is the magnificent landmark of Langenargen. Situated on a small peninsula in the lake, it is today a place for dreaming, celebrating, dining, and enjoying.

The whole tour was actually supposed to start with a round trip, taking the Friedrichshafen-Romanshon ferry to Rorschach, about 15 km further on, and including a visit to the sand sculpture competition right at the harbor. It was only here that I started the tour.

Nice bike tour for everyone, even without an e-bike. Only from Lindau to Langenargen does it get a little strenuous here and there but is feasible. You should also leave the actual Lake Constance cycle path in some cities and drive to the center, there is a lot to see and always a stop
