Ötztal Local Heritage Museum

Highlight • Historical Site

This small but nice museum was opened in 1979 in Längenbach. Conveniently, the museum is right on the Ötztal cycle path. So you can take a break here and take a little trip into the past.

Längenfeld

Highlight • Settlement

Here, nature creates a true fairytale landscape! In the middle of the Ötztal, a seemingly endless valley plain awaits you in Längenfeld at an altitude of 1,180 meters. A lush green stretches out before you for 20 kilometers, which you can always see from the town.

Längenfeld is a biker's paradise. On the valley floor, the glaciers once created the perfect conditions for almost flat bike tours. All around, however, there are alpine tours. There is something for every taste! And when you get back, you can relax in the thermal baths (with the best view, of course).

By the way:
Throughout the Ötztal, it is possible to switch to or upgrade to the latest e-bikes: With electrical support, every biker can reach their personal destination. The Ötztal sports retailers offer e-bikes for rent so that you can enjoy nature almost silently. The participating companies use the same models and technical standards: leisure cyclists can easily replace or charge their batteries at all e-bike stations from Oetz to Obergurgl.

Trail Reviews

Brektehegel
August 28, 2025, Hello again

Familiar territory, familiar paths, and yet something new. At Winkelbergsee, all the trees on one of the small islands were felled and converted into seating, accessible via a new wooden bridge. I hope the trees were diseased and therefore had to be removed, because otherwise the somewhat dull result in no way justifies the intervention in nature. The weather was mixed, but the "real" rain only came after the end of the specially planned short tour. This time, I let the recording continue during the short walk around Winkelbergsee to avoid the typical Komoot image jumble. This, of course, distorted the average speed. In contrast to the gravel bike experiment in July, I'm back in the mountains on my e-bike. On the outward journey (or rather, all the way north), I was able to leave the assistance off, but heading south with a strong headwind, it was very welcome. And the steep ramp up to the lake was no problem with extra energy.
