Hiking
If you fancy a coastal hike then Kejimkujik National Park Seaside is the place for you. The sandy beaches and dense coastal forests are wonderful, the Atlantic wind blows through your hair, and you can watch seals sunbathing on small islands and eider ducks gliding across the water. Take binoculars so you don’t miss anything!
You’ll start your hike at the National Park car park, about a two-hour drive from Halifax. Bushes and trees shield your view as you approach the sea. The landscape suddenly opens out over the wild Atlantic coast, and a viewing platform lets you admire the rocky islands at Harbour Rocks.
In autumn and winter you can walk down to St Catherine’s River Beach to enjoy the fine sand and turquoise blue water. The beach is closed to the public during the breeding season (April to August), to protect the little ringed plover.
