When we drove to the Oester this morning, the sun was already greeting us in the higher elevations. Since the dam is of course in the valley, thick fog and cold were forecast here. So, quickly gain altitude, towards the sun. First we went over the dam wall, where the water is currently pouring down because it is at full capacity. After a good kilometer, we turn left up into the forest, and quickly gain altitude on the path that runs parallel to the stream and offers beautiful views of it. Shortly afterwards, our intermediate destination, the Rüenhardt refuge, follows past the well-known Ebbe forester's house, where we took our breakfast break. Then we headed back a little to reach the Oester again via the small town of Hebberg further down the valley south of Himmelmert. It was still quite cool here and the free 🅿️ had filled up considerably. It was very impressive to break through the fog line several times today and see wonderful landscapes.

Today we went hiking in the Märkisches Sauerland, at the Oestertalsperre near Plettenberg. First we went over the 38 m high dam, where there were still some remains of ice visible at the water's edge. After we left the riverside path, we went steadily uphill to the highest point of the tour at almost 600 meters above sea level. From here you could see part of the Biggetalsperre and a little further away a snow-covered slope. Now we went in wide bends, unfortunately we missed a turnoff once and had to go back a bit, back to the dam.
