Trail Reviews

March 31, 2024, 2024-020: 1 Steg, 1 Mauer, 1 Turm, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️-🔄 - Sollinghöhen (HS 1)

The last day of the little break in Solling began on Easter Sunday 2024 with drizzle and a lot of haze. At the start around half past twelve the sun slowly came through. Whether it's the footbridge through the moor or the last 6 kilometers, the tour is highly recommended. Lots of forest paths in between, but also the opportunity to walk next to each other in a completely relaxed manner. Small weakness: after the Ahlequelle it goes quite close to the B407 (to the Wildpark Haus). In comparison, the last few kilometers are really great. Whether it's the 250-year-old English-style sandstone wall around the horse meadows or the Hochsolling tower at the end, the end is a lot of fun. ... and at the very end, fries at the grill station 😋

With the "Sollinghöhen" I have picked out another of the wild quality tours in the Solling-Vogler region. My tour starts at the Neuhaus wildlife park on a narrow natural trail that takes me directly to the Ahlequelle. What an idyllic and somehow contemplative place in the middle of the forest, where there is also a wooden hut for a rest. After listening to the relaxing splashing of water for a while, I continue hiking through the Ahle Valley. The views over the wide meadows into the open valley have a really calming effect, so that you can't help but leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind. Along the outskirts of Neuhaus im Solling, I now hike along wonderful natural paths, where foxgloves, wild flowers and raspberry bushes sprout, in the direction of Silberborn. Of course, there are also forest road sections, but these are always replaced by such wonderful passages. At the TreeRock climbing park and high ropes course in Solling, I watch a few happily squeaking children who are doing gymnastics between the wire ropes and wobbly wooden constructions and immediately get the urge to try out one of the courses again. But today I'm here for hiking, and the next highlight isn't long in coming. Via a root path I reach the wooden footbridges of the Mecklenbrucher Moor, which immediately casts a spell over me. I feel like I'm in Scandinavia as I walk through the high moor between swaying birch trees, mosses, blueberry bushes and fluffy cotton grass. The incredibly beautiful landscape inspires me so much that I can't stop taking pictures. Incidentally, Exmoor ponies and Heck cattle also graze here, but they prefer to hide under the trees in the shade in the summer heat. The photogenic wooden plank path through the moor area with many information boards takes me to a lookout tower from which I can once again enjoy the natural idyll very intensively. Between countless dragonflies and frogs, I let my gaze wander into the distance again and then make my way to the next attraction on the Sollinghöhen-Weg. From the 33 meter high, wooden Hochsollingturm I have a fantastic view in all directions of the Weser Mountains. But first I have to climb 180 steps and I'm panting a lot when I get to the top. However, the wide view over the extensive forests of the Hochsolling and up to the striking summit of the Köterberg compensates for all efforts. The last section of the trail back to the wildlife park also has something special to offer. Historic dry stone walls from the time of horse breeding line the rustic path and bring back many beautiful memories of my hike through the Mallorcan Tramuntana mountains. Between the quarry stone walls overgrown with moss and lichen and old trees, I keep catching beautiful views of the idyllic pasture landscape. The herd of noble Trakehner horses in particular is a wonderful eye-catcher at the end of this great round tour. My detailed blog post about the Solling-Vogler region with lots of other information about great hikes and outdoor experiences is now online: https://www.couchaway.de/solling-vogler/

Wow, that's about time! Not just our New Year's march in general, which we hadn't been able to see yet because of work. No, the big circular tour around Fohlenplacken/Silberborn/Neuhaus had been on my list for a long time. We started in tolerable rain in Fohlenplacken. The forest paths sometimes seem endless, but then you are faster than you thought on the main road, which you have to cross. From there the route leads over Treerock, Hochmoor and the Hochsolling lookout tower past the old dry stone walls and the Neuhäuser wildlife park to the Ahlequelle and then back to Fohlenplacken. The sun showed up punctually when we climbed to the observation tower, then stayed until the end and gave us a fantastic evening atmosphere ❤️ 🔥 We arrived at the car exhausted but satisfied. A really nice circular route with many highlights!

Wide forest paths, a footbridge through the moor, an old avenue of oak trees and historic stone walls.... plus lots of shade, so that there were almost goosebump moments ;-)

The hiking weather couldn't have been better: sun, a few clouds, and a refreshing breeze! This route is one of the "Wanderbares Deutschland" quality tours and was intended to be practice and a test for me to tackle the ARCHOTRAIL soon. 😃 Starting at the Mecklenbruch hiking car park, I walked through the beautiful Mecklenbruch Moor nature reserve over wooden walkways. From the observation tower, you can enjoy the view of the strictly protected raised bog. I continued to the idyllic village of Fohlenplacken, where I made an additional loop to the Fohlenplackener Hütte, where I got my second stamp. Above the wonderfully green and protected Ahle meadows, the path led to the romantic spot at the Ahlequelle spring, where I took a tea break and stamped my third stamp. The following section of the path to the wildlife park was very beautiful, but unfortunately too noisy along the road. The section along the historic dry-stone walls and along the oak avenue was once again a delight for the eyes and ears. The delicate green of the awakening nature is simply magnificent! My already tired legs finally managed to climb the 178 steps of the wooden Hochsolling Tower – the magnificent view all the way to the Teutoburg Forest is not to be missed. From the tower, I left the HS1 and walked the rest of the way along the Panorama Trail, as the fourth stamp was up for grabs just before the Hille Bille Köthe. 😁 At the end, I was rewarded with a nice, fat fries at the chip shop! 😅😅😅 A highly recommended hike!👍

A varied hiking trail with numerous sights along various paths, often natural trails. Plenty of benches along the way to rest and enjoy nature. It was a very nice hike 🌞

Oh, that was a beautiful day!!! 🤩 Almost like spring! Birds chirping, sun, blue sky!! 🐦🐦‍⬛🌷☀️ After a few tour considerations the evening before, I decided on the HS1 in Solling. The HS1 is a beautiful hiking trail around Neuhaus. I've walked it several times, but it's always different and just beautiful! ☺️☺️ (Only the section from Fohlenplacken to the climbing park in Silberborn is a bit slow!🙈) But you quickly forget that during the rest of the tour with its great views!!!😍🤗 Ps.: From the Mecklenbruch car park I took a short detour along the panoramic path. 😉🤗
