Rabenstein Castle and the Sophien Cave are also worth a visit if you are on holiday in Franconian Switzerland. You can visit the state and knights' halls of the well-preserved Rabenstein Castle and then stop off at the manor tavern. The falconry right next to the castle is also very interesting. The Sophien Cave is located very close to the castle and is one of the most beautiful, still active stalactite caves in Germany.
On the way to our accommodation we stop briefly in Langenloh, at the hiking car park at Rabenstein Castle. There is still enough time for a short hiking tour, the weather is kind to us and so we spontaneously decided to start a trial tour. First we hike to the Sophienhöhle and via the Ludwigshöhle to the Schneiderloch. Our small but very impressive tour ends at Rabenstein Castle. Sometimes less is more, because on this first little hiking tour we had plenty of opportunity to let the “Franconian” flair work its magic on us! It can carry on like this!
Beautiful short hike with many highlights. Without a dog, you should also plan a tour of Rabenstein Castle and the Sophienhöhle. On public holidays like Easter, it's best to start early in the morning as the paths can get crowded from midday onwards.
Check the weather before you set off... Okay, there's supposed to be a mini shower at around 3 p.m. That's not bad. We don't need hiking poles, everything is flat this time. Completely wrong. Three heavy hailstorms again, and always up and down, just not as steep as on the last hike. I don't think I've ever had as many stairs while hiking as I did this week. The mud and hail were pretty slippery underfoot. The only positive thing about the path with hail is that it's a bit like a winter wonderland.
Very nice hike through the forest in impressive nature. However, a certain level of fitness and surefootedness (roots, stones, steps) is required. Suitable for children from 8 years.
Pure adventure on only 4 km... Franconian ...After a few minutes the first super highlight was the tailor's chamber, then we went up to the tailor's hole On the wonderful panoramic hiking trail past beautiful rock formations we went to the absolute highlight "Ludwigshöhle" A passage cave that King Ludwig visited even then then up to the Sophienhöhle further over the Mega Rabenstein-Steig to Rabenstein Castle, there alone you can easily spend a day so many possibilities you have there We went back to the starting point Rennerfelsen via the Franconian mountain hiking trail An absolute recommendation for all hiking freaks 😉🤩
