Today I was in @Andrea's children's room. The Sinntal never disappoints. A varied tour with Schwarzenfels Castle as the highlight. Not for trail junkies, but that's never what I'm after. Great tour!
The foothills of the Rhön with their open structure shape the Sinntal circuit. In the forest areas, the tour runs mainly on gravel or asphalted farm roads, in the open landscape meadow paths determine the character. After starting in Sterbfritz, you get a first impression of the open landscape in the Sinntal. The tour first leads along meadow paths to the Stephanskuppe nature reserve. The Stephanskuppe is an island-shaped limestone hill on which numerous protected orchid species grow. After circling it, you head to Schwarzenfels Castle, the next destination of the tour, with a view of the Sinntal. After an easy descent to Weichersbach in the Sinntal, the ascent to Schwarzenfels Castle and the town of the same name requires a lot of stamina. The ascent is rewarded with a great view over the Sinntal, the Rhön and the expanse of the Spessart. After a rest in the castle courtyard, the tour now leads back down into the valley, along the Schmalen Sinn. A second tough climb leads up to the Weinberg nature reserve near Neuengronau. Dry meadows with juniper groves dominate the landscape. The route now continues on farm roads into the land of the beavers. At the Willingsgrundweiher pond, you can see the beavers' building skills. With a bit of luck, the builder himself will even show up. After admiring the buildings, you have to mobilize all your strength to master the last climb. A leisurely ride on farm roads, again with a great view of the Rhön, takes you to the starting point in Sterbfritz. (Source: spessart-tourismus.de/detail/id=61eebc407e8c480c6a968a04)
The foothills of the Rhön Mountains, with their open landscape, shape the Sinntal loop. In the wooded areas, the tour runs predominantly on gravel or paved farm tracks, while in the open countryside, meadow paths dominate. The Stephanskuppe is an island-shaped limestone hill where numerous protected orchid species grow. After a leisurely descent to Weichersbach in the Sinntal valley, the climb to Schwarzenfels Castle and the village of the same name demands a fair amount of stamina. The ascent is rewarded with a fantastic view over the Sinntal valley, into the Rhön mountains, and across the vast expanse of the Spessart forest. After a rest in the castle courtyard, the tour leads back down into the valley, along the Schmale Sinn river. A second challenging climb leads up to the Weinberg nature reserve near Neuengronau. Dry meadows with juniper groves dominate the landscape. The route continues along farm tracks into beaver country. At the Willingsgrund pond, you can admire the beavers' ingenuity. With a bit of luck, you might even spot the master builder himself. After marveling at the structures, you'll need to muster your strength once more to tackle the final climb. A leisurely ride along farm tracks, again offering fantastic views of the Rhön region, brings you back to the starting point in Sterbfritz.
