Hiking
From the Neunerköpfle, a beautiful high-altitude trail leads above the Tannheim Valley past the Schrofen to the Landsberger Hütte.
Descent via the Traualpe to the Vilsalpsee to Tannheim.
Two small peaks, a magnificent panoramic trail, bright blue lakes and blooming alpine meadows enrich this varied hike. A gondola takes us to the starting point, so that we only have to climb a few meters in altitude on this tour.
The view is particularly breathtaking on clear days on the grassy mountains around the Schochenspitze: In the curve after the climb, a spectacular mountain panorama of the Lachenspitze and the surrounding peaks opens up to us.
The Landsberger Hütte, Traualpe and Gappenfeldalm offer us good places to stop for a break. The descent is via the Traualpe - towards the Vilsalpsee and to Tannheim.
Directions:
We use the comfortable and beautiful ascent option of the 8-seater Neunerköpfle gondola and float up the slope. Starting from the mountain station, we can tackle one of them straight away: A short, 15-minute walk takes us up to the summit cross of the Neunerköpfle, from where we have an impressive panoramic view of the Allgäu Alps, the lowlands and the Zugspitze.
Finally, we leave the summit on the southern side and enter the Saalfelder Höhenweg (No. 421), a comfortable panoramic path along meadow slopes.
In summer, the alpine roses and gentian bloom here in bright colors. Sometimes even an edelweiss flashes. We continue to follow the path, to the right below us we see first the Usseralpe, then the Gappenfeldalpe. However, we orient ourselves in the direction of the Schochenspitze.
Shortly before the Schochen, the climb becomes steep and rocky, narrow serpentines on grassy fields finally lead us to the top. In a quarter of an hour, this summit is also reached. We enjoy the view of the blue-green Traualpsee, the Landsberger Hütte and the Vilsalpsee. From the meadows at the Schochenspitze we reach a path over scree fields, on which we reach the Landsberger Hütte below the Lachenspitze.
We descend to the Traualpsee and hike further down the valley to the Vilsalpsee. There you can easily take the bus or the Alpenexpress or walk towards Tannheim. This ends at the beginning of Tannheim, we now walk straight ahead on the road, pass a small chapel and come to the center of Tannheim. At the roundabout we keep right and can see the valley station of the gondola again, where we started our hike.
Tip:
An absolute dream tour in the Tannheim mountains.
This tour was also awarded the Tyrolean Mountain Trail Seal of Quality as Austria's most popular hike in July 2017.

As I wanted to have breakfast in the mountains, I used the first ride on the Neunerköpflebahn to ascend. Once I got to the top, a wonderful view of the impressive mountains of the Tannheimer Valley opened up. At this time, I was the only guest in the Grundhütte. With a hut board …

Today I experienced a very special, unforgettable, eventful and unprecedented day of mastering a challenge.
I can't really describe it in words, my heart and soul are still so touched and filled with gratitude.
My dear Mum and Zoya accompanied me up to the Neunerköpfle in Tannheim.

... brrr, it was pretty cold and foggy up there 🥶🥶
Unfortunately, the 3-Lakes Panorama Tour with Lache, Traualpsee, and Vilsalpsee didn't offer us quite as much of a panorama today as usual 😅
Still a lovely tour, and in good company, it's even possible without the sun.

This plan cannot correspond to the "most popular hike in Austria" because it contains off-grid sections that I cannot recommend walking. In some places, there is not even a path visible. And even before the off-grid section, you should continue to follow the marked path "DAV 425".
We did this on October
