This route was planned by komoot.
It started at the Schneegrund parking lot. The entrance is then approx. 300 m from the parking lot. You can hike the well signposted circular route "5" to the left or to the right. Partly the paths are quite overgrown, also with blackberries. The tour also has a few nice climbs. And lots of beautiful views.
Hikable Germany rates/certifies hiking trails. Beautiful day tours are called dream tours and this was one of them. The path is very well marked, there are at least 3 places to stop for refreshments along the route (at least on the weekend) the path is forest paths or single trails for well over 90% of the route 👍👍👍👍🍷 great visibility (this morning there was still fog, but then it got great) all in all a very beautiful path 🤗😍 ..... But we only found two castles 🤔 you can't really miss them, but the one ruin is hidden by the rascal 😜😚
Three castles and a hike on various paths uphill and downhill, along ridge and stairways, through gorges with lush wild garlic plantations, deciduous forests, and along forest edges. It's not for nothing that the RI5, which connects Schaumburg, Osterburg, and Paschenburg, has been awarded the "Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland - Traumtour" (Quality Trail for Hikers in Germany - Dream Tour) certificate. Our circular hike started and ended at Schaumburg Castle on the Nesselberg. From there, we headed northwest through the idyllic mountainside town of Schaumburg, and after three kilometers, we reached the next castle: Osterburg, of which only a few remains can be seen and which is easy to miss, as there is no signpost. The path then led us past the Springsteine natural monument along the ridge path to the third castle, Paschenburg on the Möncheberg. Along the route, beautiful views repeatedly opened up into the Auetal valley to the north and the Wesertal valley to the south. The ridge path now became a narrow path, with several trees lying across it, but this didn't detract from the hiking experience. Finally, we descended steeply toward Rohdental and continued through fields and forests before the tough climb 🥵 back to Schaumburg awaited us.
After a long break.... finally out together again.🌞🤸🎉..The Ri5..also known as the "Three Castles 🏰Weg"! Searched out in the morning, found it... and drove off without further ado... What can we say? An absolutely recommendable path... It connects the Easter, Paschen and Schaumburg castles! Can you also run at over 30 degrees, because you almost always make progress in the shade of the trees ... a very varied, partly Hiking trail with a lot of views...and also very well signposted...the sun and the play of the clouds, as well as the beauty of the forest, put a permanent smile on our faces.
We started today in Rohdental. I found the tour on the Weserbergland website. Very varied, sometimes adventurous paths. Of the 3 castles, the Schaumburg is highly recommended. The Osterburg is buried under the forest and the Paschburg is now a restaurant. This time we went through blooming wild garlic instead of through rapeseed fields. A sea of flowers... The path up the ridge is also great. The idea of running along the top of the mountain, which I've been looking at from afar for the last few days...wonderful. The descent was then again a challenge. Luckily we didn't start the other way around.
Tour on the 3-Castle Trail. The Paschenburg doesn't look like a castle at all, but it offers a wonderful view. The Osterburg is no longer recognizable. Only the Schaumburg is a "real" castle. The trail led along beautiful narrow paths and over the Weserbergland ridge. Very nice tour.
This is one of my favorite routes. Starting at the castle of Schaumburg we headed towards Osterburg, which no longer exists. Tanked up water at the water point beforehand. From the Osterburg we went uphill towards Paschenburg. Once there, we took a break with a snack and then continued towards Rohdental. In Rohdental we made a detour to the Cafe Rohden-Eck and back to the Schaumburg.
