The terrain is quite varied, offering a captivating mountain biking experience. You'll encounter bone-hard routes through lower Franconian vineyards, dense forest trails with roots and stones typical of the Steigerwald, and some more relaxed, partly paved sections. The route also features low mountain landscapes and river valleys.
This route is generally rated as moderate in difficulty, requiring good fitness and advanced riding skills. While some sections might be easier, the overall experience includes varied surfaces and elevation changes, making it less suitable for absolute beginners. Trails in this region often range from S0 (easy) to S2 (moderate) on the Single Track Scale, with this route leaning towards the more challenging end of moderate.
The route offers a rich tapestry of natural and cultural highlights. You'll pass through expansive vineyards, ancient forests, and charming Franconian villages. Notable points include the Bullenheimer Berg Lookout Tower, which provides panoramic vistas of the Franconian region, and the Stiller Spechtwald Trail. The Steigerwald is also known as the 'land of 1,000 ponds', adding to its unique landscape.
The best time to mountain bike this route is typically from spring to autumn. Spring offers vibrant green views in the forests, while autumn provides beautiful colors in the vineyards and forests. However, it's crucial to respect local regulations, stay on marked trails, and be mindful of the protected natural environment. The nature park aims to preserve its diverse ecosystems.

Today we actually wanted to set off very early for another tour but it was raining..... So first we went shopping and then did this slightly shorter tour that we had had our sights on for a while. This tour is quite something. The very first climb goes quite steeply up a trail. And it continues like this for the whole tour. Wide gravel paths suddenly alternate with narrow, almost overgrown paths. It's constantly up and down. It can even happen that you fall over :) The area here is a dream and you cycle through the vineyards for a few kilometers. Near the end you come to a beautiful green forest with paths made of leaves. Almost like autumn. Awesome. A very strenuous tour with lots of trails and lots of great places.
