My Jura loop today begins in Eining and therefore directly with the cultural highlight of the tour, the Roman fort Abusina. The fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and impressed me with its size and the many exposed remains of walls. This alone was worth the trip and I could have reveled in Roman history for even longer... But I also liked the tour itself. From Abusina we went along the Abens river and the Danube in the background, first over narrow meadow paths and then on the flood embankment to Bad Gögging. In addition to a wide range of wellness oases and places to stop for refreshments, the spa town also has a Roman museum for spa and bathing. However, I continued straight on past the region's countless hop gardens to Sandberg with its dry slopes and fantastic views over the Danube valley. Finally, the route takes you back along narrow paths to Eining with its nostalgic cable ferry, which you can use to cross the Danube. A varied tour through a beautiful area and an impressive Roman highlight.
P: at the Abusina Castle Refreshments: at the ferry or in Bad Gögging Paths: overgrown with grass, gravel and asphalt, everything is there. Almost exclusively in the sun, therefore not recommended on hot days. Outside of the places only 2 resting places, but they were not inviting. Apart from the fort, there is no great change. More of a tour for groups where the conversation is more of a priority.
Dawdling a little too long this morning ☕️🍳🍌☕️🥤☕️🥖☕️ - but a little something is always possible - so the decision is made for a loop from the Jurasteig. A nice round that we absolutely have to repeat in the warm season in order to then use the beer garden refreshment stops!
