Trail Reviews

paseo del mundo🗺️
July 9, 2023, Glarner Alpen: Aeugsten - Fessis Seen🌊🥾🪨

Biodiversity meets rugged mountain ranges & small lakes.🦋🪨🌊 The hike in the Glarus Alps starts at the mountain station of the Ennenda-Bärenboden cable car.🥾🧭 Passing the Aeugstenhütte, we head towards Schafleger. The ascent is steep & exhausting.😮‍💨 After a somewhat longer break from hiking, it's quite a feat to overcome the 800 meters in altitude. It goes on & with every step the view becomes more breathtaking.🤩 I won't miss a detour to see the souls.🌊 During a long break I enjoy the view, the sun and above all the peace and quiet.😌🌄 The way back to the mountain station leads over the Achelli.🥾 It goes downhill, sometimes steeply through forests.🌳🌲 The sun is burning on my head.🥵 Drink a lot & apply lotion well.🧴🧊 A variety of butterflies accompany me on the way.🦋 At the Aeugstenhütte, I end the hike with an ice-cold lemonade before taking the cable car back down to the valley.🚡 🗺️ ROUND WAY 🗺️ 🧭⏳ approx. 10.5 km ⬆️ approx. 840 hm ⬇️ approx. 780 hm 🅿️ Ennenda-Bärenboden valley station (fee) 👀 Sure-footedness & a head for heights required 👀 Mountain hike / circular hike 👀 Difficulty: Medium, partially difficult 👀 Don't forget sun protection ℹ️ Note the departure times of the cable car! On weekends 07:00-09:00 & 17:00-19:00, otherwise only by prior arrangement.🕖 Info at aeugstenbahn.ch👩🏼‍💻🛜

"During the formation of the Alps, enormous rock masses from completely different eras were pushed on top of each other. This allowed older rocks to build up on top of much younger ones. The Sardona World Heritage region boasts an enormous variety of rocks, structures, terrain, and landscapes. These form the basis for the region's great biodiversity." (https://unesco-sardona/ch) An incredibly beautiful and interesting landscape has emerged. My sister and I are hiking in this area for three days, including two overnight stays in mountain huts.
