This route was planned by komoot.
After this intense day in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, after the Bernina Express train ride from St. Moritz to Tirano (returning on a regional express train of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB)), our time at the top of the Diavolezza and the hike to Saas Queder at 3,066 m, we simply couldn't be tempted to return to the hotel in the evening. We simply didn't want to miss the warm sunlight and the special evening atmosphere on Lake St. Moritz. Hence the spontaneous walk around the lake. At the Migrolino in the station, we were able to get some provisions for a hearty snack. It was lovely! And certainly nicer than any restaurant in St. Moritz.
A short, leisurely walk around Lake St. Moritz. The lake nestled between the mountains is a highlight. There's nothing more to say about it. Afterward, of course, there was an aperitif with a view of the lake.
The second half of the few days of vacation is a contrasting program. My dear childhood friend is working for the rich and famous again this winter and I'm visiting again. It's been snowing non-stop for days and so the planned winter hike has simply turned into a walk around Lake St. Moritz. Very pleasant when the snow comes from behind, less pleasant when it comes from the front. But incredibly beautiful pictures, even if you can't see the mountains all around and everything is white on white. It was great fun being outside, but after a good hour the coats and scarves were through and the ice could hardly be removed from the fringes of the hood. So off to somewhere warm. Cocoa and bacon bread with flowers to warm up and now off to a cozy afternoon.
Today a short detour to St. Moritz. My big bike tour starts here in May. The train ride from Chor to St. Moritz alone was a treat 🤩😍
