Stage 3: Ruhrpott can be so beautiful - Ruhrtal Gravel #Lifecyclemag The final jump on the Rhine in the most beautiful winter sun. Winter sun is so treacherous: if you dress way too warmly, your clothes are soaked with sweat after only a few kilometers. The last section of the Ruhrtalgravel offers everything that makes up Gravel: forest and field paths, easy trails, beautiful views, two challenging sections to push, some asphalt and fine gravel to let it bang. Cyclists are probably not that popular in Essen. The forest around Villa Hügel is barricaded with turnstiles. Prohibition signs have been put up in Oefte. Riders gave me angry looks, although I slowly passed them 😈 . Does not matter. The Schellenberger forest offered the usual gigantic, sweeping descent to Werden. The most beautiful views on the Werdener Höhenweg. All in all a lot of ups and downs. From Kettwig then a speed passage under the Ruhrtalbrücke. Then came the gentle ascent to the Auberg.
