Trail Reviews

Brügger
August 16, 2022, Seebergsee ab Grimmialp Diemtigtal (BE)

Today we went to Schwandern/Grimmialp at the very back of the Diemtig valley to pay a visit to the well-known Seebergsee. It was actually only 10 degrees early in the morning🥶 when I started from the parking lot at the "Blauseeli", but only for a very short time until the sun was over the mountain and the valley lit up. In the cold shock I forgot to start my watch, so the first 2 km and about 30 minutes are missing in the recording 😏. So I started the clock just before it really got down to business, 500hm relatively steep in one go to the Vordermenigen level above the valley. It went up and down repeatedly on the whole tour, but never so much in one go. From the level we then go up another hill and into the basin in the direction of Seebergsee. You can soon see a small part of the Seebergsee, but I only discovered that at home in the photos 🧐🙈. From this height, you go down 120m on the back side until you reach the Seebergsee alpine hut (with Buvette) and the hiking trail that comes from the Seebergsee car park. Now only a short distance to the lake. It's nice on this lake and this peace 😊. Since I was there early there were only two other hikers and two mountain bikers - anything but usual. My route then went past the lake to the Gubi transition, where you suddenly have the Obersimmental in mind and could also descend into the valley to Zweisimmen - not my direction😊. So, continuing to follow the Fromattgrat, the Höhenweg leads me to the alpine farms on the Fromatt, always with a view of the Simmental. 170 meters in altitude have to be mastered one last time to get over the Scheidegg Pass and from there it's only a long way down back to the Grimmialp. It was a long, but very varied tour. Beautiful area👌🏻
