The Kaiserblick round is a demanding hike that generally takes around 7 hours and 20 minutes to complete. This duration is for moving time and does not include breaks for refreshments or enjoying the views.
This trail is rated as difficult. While some routes in the broader Wilder Kaiser area are moderate, this specific round includes steep inclines and narrow paths that require surefootedness and a good level of fitness. It's more challenging than a beginner-friendly hike.
The terrain is quite varied, offering a diverse hiking experience. You'll encounter forest roads, meadow paths, and forest trails. There are also some short asphalt sections, gravel paths, and parts with steep inclines. Expect rugged ground in places, and some sections may require surefootedness.
The route offers spectacular panoramic views of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. Key highlights include the View of Ellmau and the stunning View of the Wilder Kaiser. You might also see the dramatic Schleier Waterfall and pass by cultural sites like the Aschingerkapelle chapel.
Yes, there are several mountain huts along the broader Wilder Kaiser area that offer opportunities for refreshments and traditional specialties. The Ranhartalm is one such spot directly on the route. Other huts like Gaudeamushütte, Gruttenhütte, and Brenner Alm are also in the vicinity and provide essential resting points.
Specific parking details for the Kaiserblick round can vary depending on your starting point. It's advisable to check local parking options in towns like Ellmau, Going, or Scheffau, as these are common access points to trails in the Wilder Kaiser region. Look for designated hiking parking areas.
Generally, dogs are welcome on hiking trails in the Wilder Kaiser region. However, due to the trail's length and difficulty, ensure your dog is fit enough for a challenging, full-day hike. Always keep your dog on a leash, especially when traversing active mountain pastures, and be mindful of wildlife and other hikers.
The best time to hike this trail is typically from late spring to early autumn (May to October). During these months, the weather is generally more stable, and the trails are clear of snow. Hiking in spring offers lush green landscapes, while autumn provides vibrant fall colors. Always check local weather and trail conditions before you go.
No, there are typically no specific permits or entrance fees required to hike the Kaiserblick round or other trails within the Wilder Kaiser region. However, you may need to pay for parking at certain trailheads.
Given the trail's difficulty and length, you should bring sturdy hiking boots, appropriate layers of clothing for changing mountain weather, plenty of water, snacks, a map or GPS device (like komoot's app), sun protection, and a first-aid kit. Trekking poles can also be very helpful on steep or uneven sections.
Yes, the Kaiserblick round shares sections with several other trails in the region. For example, parts of the route overlap with the Brandstadlrunde, Wanderweg 2 - Ellmau, and Wanderweg 8 - Wilder Kaiser. You'll also find it intersects with portions of the Jakobsweg Tirol and the Radweg Wilder Kaiser (Wörgl).

Very scenic tour with great views. At the beginning you can shorten the steep ascent with the Astbergbahn from Going. The Alm is the last place to stop for refreshments up to the Hartkaiser. It's all there from forest roads, meadows, root climbing, gravel. Due to time constraints, I took the gondola from Hartkaiser to Ellmau.
Nice undemanding tour with great views of the Kaiser. Follows the panorama path 11 / 11a in parts
