After @Aadjeboef cycled 224 km yesterday to celebrate a holiday with me, today it was time for a recovery walk. It became a round of the Drents Friese Wold. The Drents-Friese Wold National Park is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. In 2000, more than 6,000 hectares of forest, heathland, drifting sand and stream valley grasslands were designated as a National Park. The Drents-Friese Wold is one of the most beautiful and important nature reserves in Europe. (Source: https://www.nationaalpark-drents-friese-wold.nl/) We also walked along the artificially created Canadameer (also called Aekingameer). We wondered where that name came from.... It is located in the hamlet of Canada. The place name is named after the farm of the same name from which it originated. So yes... not very spectacular 😅. The walk ended with a drink and a snack at brasserie de BoschSpot, next to the parking lot.
