July 4, 2025, mal wieder kurz los 😎 Welfen-Route – Auf den Spuren der Kornbrenner

Off we go again 😎 Today the "Welfen Route, in the footsteps of the grain distillers." In very good cycling weather, we cycled along the Dortmund-Ems Canal to Biene. Through Bienerfeld to Clusorth-Bramhar. From here to Bramhar to the herb farm - too early - unfortunately still closed. Well, then on via Bawinkel, Klosterholte, Klosterholte-Haverbeck to Bückelte. On via Hamm to Haselünne. Stop at Berentzen, then past Rosche and back to Lingen. Over the Hase Bridge, along the B 213 for a bit, then turn left and through the Langenberger Moor nature reserve to Drope. We took a break at the lovely in't Euwer rest area (In't Euwer = Low German and means "in the windbreak"). We drank a cappuccino. We continued towards Gersten and via Langen back to Lingen. Shortly before the Gauerbach district, a fallen tree blocked the path. 🙄 I pushed my bike through a ditch into the cornfield and after about 30 meters, back through the dry ditch onto the path. From there, it wasn't far to home. A beautiful tour, I had fun. 😎

A successful tour. Partly on cycle paths along the road, then along the canal and also many forest and meadow paths. But they were easy to ride as it was dry. A section of just over a kilometer was very bad. You shouldn't have eaten there beforehand. 😅 Otherwise, great.

A very nice tour. Unfortunately we got lost in Bawinkel. So a few km have been added.

A nice round with many old half-timbered houses. You could drive very well on the canal and the side roads were also great. Little traffic and lots of nature. Only the piece on the street was not so nice. But sometimes you have to go that far.

Today from Haselünne to Lingen following the junctions. Have a nice tour! A heavy shower in between to cool down. Conclusion: The Emsland is not in the Alps. Of the kilometers driven, I covered more than 80% without support and with frequent (head)wind.

The third stage went north-east from Lingen to Haselünne. It was a hot but beautiful tour. One positive aspect was that we often went through shady forest. The participants of our cycling tour particularly liked the area around Haselünne and the town itself.
