The Vloethemveld is a surprising forest and nature reserve. Ammunition was stored here after WW I. From 1944 to 1946 it was a camp for German prisoners of war. From 1950 to 2008 it served as an ammunition depot. The former storage buildings are gradually being demolished and nature restored. The intensive mowing management (ammunition depot) created a unique vegetation. Heather is now blooming on the merlons or embankments around the buildings. The camp itself is not publicly accessible, but the surrounding woods are and form a beautiful walking area, where nature and tranquility prevail.
