Hiking

On this hike you will go on a journey back in time to the past of the First World War. In addition to the spectacular view of the surrounding mountain landscape, which impresses with breathtaking panoramas, an open-air museum on the ridge of the Kleiner Pal reminds us of the eventful history. The reconstructed trenches, position buildings, tunnels and military front facilities show the situation of the warring parties Italy and Austria-Hungary in a very small space. The soldiers stood directly opposite each other on the front lines between jagged rock formations, only within hand grenade throwing distance. After your visit to the open-air museum, you will walk along a hiking trail next to the Plöckenpass road back to your starting point. At the Plöckenhaus inn you have the opportunity to recharge your energy reserves.

After the extensive rest, a visit to the two reservoirs is worthwhile. Here you can process the history you have experienced in peace and relax in the refreshingly cold water of the Cellon or Grünsee.

Great and educational open-air museum. Here you can experience the madness of the First World War first hand. The positions of both sides are only a few meters apart. During the war years 1915 to 1917, more than 3,000 men died here.
