This route was planned by komoot.
The start was south of Alghero on the coastal road where the parking lot even has a fountain with fresh water. First, hilly along the coast towards the south to Bosa, where the colorful, bright facades of the houses can be seen from afar. Through the town, behind it begins a very little-used road with a moderate gradient and a beautiful panorama. Here you can enjoy exploring Sardinia by racing bike. We fortified ourselves in the village pub in Montresta and then continued on to Monteleon on the quietest roads. Shortly before the town there is a shady fountain where you can fill your bottles with fresh water. There are wide views inland along this route and then the descent from Monteleon. At the beginning of the town exit is the panoramic balcony where the view stretches over the hills far out to the sea. On the descent there are two more springs on the left, fountains where clear, cool drinking water comes into bottles when needed. A short counter climb over a kind of "alpine pasture" leads to the steep, up to 17%, serpentine road back to the coast with a magnificent panorama. At the intersection you just roll downhill to the parking lot.
Incredibly beautiful tour from bosa to alghero and back. Including first little sunburn :)
A scenic and physically challenging tour that leads through the coastal hinterland between Alghero and Bosa and then back along the spectacular coastal road. 100 kilometers, almost 1,800 meters of elevation gain. So far, so good. The often extremely poor road surface is a drawback, which I would actually consider simply unsuitable for road bike tours. After battling up the approximately 13 tough climbs, you'll want to tackle a descent at a reasonable pace. But on about 50 percent of the descents, the brakes are your best friend if you don't want to risk a broken frame or flat tires. On this tour, komoot also guided me over a long distance on a solid mountain bike trail, where ramps of approximately 18 percent on rough gravel were simply not manageable on a road bike. That's simply not what you need on a tour with this profile. Conclusion: Nice route with wonderful views, but moderately enjoyable. But that's just my opinion.
