Hiking
The breathtaking ridge hike on the Fellhorngrat is known for its spectacular views and unique flora and fauna. This popular tour along the Austrian-German border not only offers the pleasure of altitude thanks to the cable car connection, but also a nearly eight-kilometer ridge hike.
The mountain tour starts at the summit station of the Kanzelwandbahn cable car and, from the very beginning, offers impressive panoramas over the Kleinwalsertal valley towards the Hoher Ifen and the Gottesacker plateau. The trail soon winds steeply up to the Fellhorn summit at 2,038 meters and continues past the Schlappoldkopf and Schlappoldeck peaks. The view of the mountains and mountain lakes will make any hiker's heart beat faster.
After the summit experience, the hiking trail winds down to the rustic Sölleralpe hut at 1,522 meters, where a cozy refreshment awaits. The trail then continues to the mountain station of the Söllereckbahn cable car, which leads back down to the valley.

Great tour of the Kanzelwandbahn via Fellhorn summit via Söller Alpe to the Söllereckbahn. If necessary, you can take the Kanzelwand summit and the Söllereck summit with you. But the tour is demanding even without the two peaks. Walking sticks recommended and high walking shoes. But the view is priceless.
After yesterday's strenuous tour, today should be easier. So, up the Kanzelwandbahn, up to the Fellhorn (it's not that much more altitude 🙈) and down the ridge path towards the Söllereckbahn. There you are rewarded with beautiful views of the Kleinwalsertal and the surrounding mountains. At first there were clouds in the valley, but faster than you could blink they moved upwards. I was lucky because I was already on the way down towards the Sölleralpe. Nevertheless, this sudden fog had something mystical about it. I then took a short break at the Sölleralpe. They have delicious cakes there, but also delicious snacks, as I know from previous visits. It is then not far to the Fellhornbahn. The descent into the valley was again in sunshine. Only the mountain peaks were still partially covered by clouds. One of the tours that is always worthwhile in the Kleinwalsertal, even if you have to start early because it is generally very popular and well attended.
The ridge path from the Kanzelwand to the Söllereck (Berghaus Schönblick) is definitely a highlight of a holiday in the Kleinwalsertal. The Kanzelwand can be reached with a gondola lift from Riezlern. From the valley station of the Söllereck Bahn, you can take the valley bus, which runs every few minutes, back to Riezlern.
From the Kanzelwand mountain station, over the Fellhorn and the Fellhorngrat to the Schlappoldkopf and Söllerkopf, then descend to the Sölleralpe and then to the Söllereckbahn mountain station. Great tour with beautiful views 🤩
A superb tour in great weather: first, take the Söllereckbahn cable car all the way up, then hike 700 meters up to the Fellhorn summit, then walk along the ridge to the Kanzelwand cable car. A final detour took us another 100 meters up to the Kanzelwand summit cross. From the Kanzelwand, we take the cable car to Riezlern, and from there, the No. 1 bus takes us back to Oberstdorf or the valley station of the Söllereckbahn cable car in 10 minutes.
We took the bus from Oberstdorf to Riezlern. It went up with the Kanzlerwandbahn. We left the Kanzelwand on the right (since we were already on the summit). Today we went over the Fehlhorngrad to the Söllereck. A nice tightrope walk, not too strenuous. However, there is a great view of the mountains and valleys. The descent to the Söllereck was sometimes adventurous, as thunderstorms had probably washed out the paths.
An absolute must in Kleinwalsertal is the ridge hike from the Kanzelwandbahn cable car to the Söllereckbahn cable car. Stunning views and colorful alpine flowers invite you to take a short break and pause for a moment. I particularly liked the section from Fellhorn to Söllereck, where you can enjoy views of the Kleinwalsertal and Stillachtal valleys from Oberstdorf. In the background, you can repeatedly see the Allgäu High Alps and the Hoher Ifen, the most striking mountain in Kleinwalsertal. On clear days, you can also see the Zugspitze. Due to the three gondolas that lead up to the ridge path, it is very touristy during peak season and on weekends, especially between Kanzelwand and Fellhorn, so you should definitely hike during the week. Highly recommended.
