Pertes de la Valserine

Highlight • Waterfall

La Valserine has carved gorges into the limestone rock and bears witness to the power of nature. Potholes and deep ravines were carved into the rock until the river disappeared into a quagmire.

Valserine Valley

Highlight • River

The river has regained its tranquility here, its course is more peaceful. It is the colors of the water that change. This phenomenon is just as fascinating as the rapids seen previously.

Trail Reviews

Xavier
October 31, 2024, La Vallée de la Valserine

Magnificent hike, rivers, waterfalls, forest, very pleasant undergrowth, not too physical route, but in the fall, wet, muddy paths, roots, slippery trails with leaves on the ground, bring good shoes, but the loop is superb! Very exotic, we imagine a little Canadian landscapes, with the beautiful colors of autumn. Not to be missed.

A very beautiful hike along this river. Some sections are currently closed due to landslides and dilapidated conditions.

The "green bayou" of Valserine, corners worthy of the film Délivrance.
