View of Ockfener Bachtal Vineyards

Highlight • Viewpoint

Here, the vineyards drop steeply to the fork of the Ockfener Bach stream. The green of the vines blends seamlessly into the forests of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. A beautiful spot.

Bockstein Summit

Highlight • Summit

There are beautiful trails up to the Bockstein. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful section of the Saar-Riesling-Steige and deserves its name. From the top, you have a beautiful view and some great photo opportunities.

Highlight • Viewpoint

Below you, the village of Ockfen nestles in its small side valley, while on the horizon – framed by vines – you can see the small town of Saarburg.

The official 🆘️ rescue point 6305-437 🆘️ can be found directly at the Bismarck Tower. This is also where the asphalt road from Ockfen ends. There are also benches and tables available for resting.

July 9, 2022,Wanderung 09.07.2022 Seitensprung Saar-Riesling-Steig 🙋‍♂️🥾🌥️😊
Today we went again the side jump Saar-Riesling-Steig. Start and finish was in Schoden at the sports field. A varied tour without major highlights, but with crisp ascents and descents. The tour runs mainly in shady forests and is therefore easy to walk even with temperatures like today. LG and have a nice weekend 🙋‍♂️😊

To kick off my second weekend in the Saar region, I chose a Moselsteig side trip.
The Moselsteig side trips are "circular hiking trails that serve as partner trails of the Moselsteig and allow you to explore the Moselle region off the main route."
I started at the sports field in Schoden. The first half of the tour is mostly …

Today we did the Saar-Riesling Climb with our 🇳🇱 Komoot friend @Ron. Start and finish was in Schoden at the sports field. At first the weather was still pretty good, but from the Ockfener Bockstein it's fine to the finish 🌧️. We enjoyed the tour, despite the rain.
Unfortunately I forgot to end the tour at the destination. It was …

On the second day of our Saar weekend 😍 it should be a "Moselsteig side jump tour" again. We had decided on the "Saar-Riesling-Steig". Unfortunately, the path often ran over wide paths and only had the character of a climb in the area of the Bockstein.
We still really enjoyed the day😊!

Today we walked the Saar-Riesling-Steig side jump again. Start and finish was Schoden at the sports field. Very nice sporty round. Some sections were still very muddy. The Zappborn raft is still well filled. At a point where the stream runs over a path, you have to cross it🙈. Not a problem in the summer, but today the steps had …

After the start at the Schoden sports field in perfect weather, the disillusionment soon followed. It feels like it's either uphill or downhill, but actually never just to relax. The hike is very beautiful in itself and the signage and the condition of the paths are great. The only thing that bothers a little is that there is almost no …

Unfortunately, the weather has clouded our view ....

The tour starts at the parking lot at the Schoden sports field.

The quite demanding tour offers changing landscape impressions with vineyards, deciduous and coniferous forests, streams, mountain meadows and wonderful views of the Saar valley and the wooded areas on the Geisberg
The scramble tour on the Bockstein wasn't bad in the rain either.😅
