On the way back from Eisenach, we stopped for a hike halfway through the tour in the municipality of Gemünden (Felda). I had chosen the Heinzemann Tour from Ehringshausen in the morning, which is just under 14 km long. It was a nice, relaxed tour, but halfway through, I was a bit tired after the strenuous Luther Trail. It was very comforting that a large part of the route led along forest and meadow paths – after all the asphalt and gravel of the last few days. And there was a running event at the beginning/end of the tour – so we ended up with a delicious currywurst. Today we went to the Vogelsberg🐦⛰️ again to hike one of the premium trails ExtraTouren Vogelsberg. The starting point of our tour🔄, the Heinzemanntour🗿Gemünden, was the hiking portal🪧in the village center🏘️ at the village community center. There are a few parking spaces🅿️ available there. We hiked🚶🏼♀️➡️🚶🏼➡️🎒 the tour in good weather🌤️🌡️🥵 clockwise↩️, the numerous forest passages🌳🌲 provided pleasant shade👍🏻. After passing the Mehlbacher Teich💧, the Backofenhausteich💧 and crossing the Felda🌊 and the road, we reached the forest hut🛖 at the crossroads❌"Spinne"🕷️. Here, after we had already left the highest⬆️ point🟢 of the tour behind us✔️, we took a long break⏸️ including food🥪🧀🍇🍺. Then came the final stage, where we paid a visit to the geotope & natural monument Heinzemann🗿🪨. Shortly afterwards we reached the starting point again🏁😊. Today the Heinzemann tour was on the program again. Things got off to a lively start from Ehringshausen, but the first obstacle didn't take long to arrive: a few meters after the starting point, our feet were already wet because the entire meadow was under water. This condition lasted for what felt like three quarters of the entire hike, and the narrow nature paths also resembled a swampy area in places. No matter, you find yourself in your comfort zone far too often anyway, so in retrospect the swamp hike wasn't all that bad. If you're looking for a little challenge, I can absolutely recommend the tour, even at this time of year!
A beautiful tour through the typical cultural landscape of the Vogelsberg with its meadow valleys. You are alternately led through forests and open country, along the edges of the forest with wide views and wonderful ponds that invite you to linger. Well signposted! Very beautiful, varied tour. Well signposted and well-maintained paths. Large parking lot and information board at the starting point.
Today we were on the Heinzemann route in the Vogelsberg district. It is easy to walk, the two climbs can be managed with little effort. Along the way there is a good mix of forest and field paths with great views of the Vogelsberg district. We almost walked past the highlight of the tour, the Heinzemann, a lava rock formation. But only almost. When we spotted it up in the forest, we decided to climb up to it over slippery forest floor. Great tour and great area.
A very, very nice tour. Nice long single trail sections. Always nice variety with woods, fields and meadows. The paths were very soggy today, but could still be walked well. Today's highlight and probably for a long time to come: My first (presumably) wild cat in freedom, outside the Weilburg zoo. If I'm wrong, I'll be taught better ... or you just let me believe I've seen one ;-)
On the way home from the final stretch of our Luther Trail 1521, we had a short final hike. Here's the official description of the Heinzemann Tour from the German Hiking Institute, which awards the 13.5 km route 6 experience points: A beautiful tour through the typical cultural landscape of the Vogelsberg with its meadow valleys. You'll be led alternately through forests and open land, along forest edges with expansive views and wonderful ponds that invite you to linger. Small but beautiful: the Heinzemann natural monument and geotope, an interestingly shaped rock. Conclusion: The absolute highlight is the beautiful Mehlbach Pond and the lovely trails.
