Today it was about avoiding forests due to the weather conditions. So we decided at short notice to hike the Lauterbach meadow tour of the ExtraTouren Vogelsberg, which we were missing anyway. The starting point was at the DGH in the Maar district of Lauterbach. We ran the tour, mostly on meadow paths, in a clockwise direction. Occasionally we hiked on gravel, rarely on asphalt. There are only a few moderate climbs on the almost 12 km long tour around Maar. Rest areas on the Reutersberg and the Bilskuppe invite you to linger. You have a distant view of the Rhön, and you can also see the tower of the Hoherodskopf in the distance.
Not earth shattering this tour. Is very well signposted! No shady places. It's only across meadows.
What a wonderful spring day! ☀️ The day off work absolutely had to be used for a hike, but today it was soooo relaxing. 👌🏻 The timing was perfect for the Meadow Tour. Because, as the name suggests, the trail leads almost exclusively through meadows or grassy field paths. Since we only started at lunchtime, the grass was nice and dry, and since the meadows had already been mown, we could see the ground quite well. Otherwise, it gets difficult when the bumps aren't visible; you could quickly twist your ankle.🦶 There are plenty of benches at viewpoints with beautiful views - and we took advantage of almost all of them and lazed away the time in the sun. 😎 The rapeseed fields all around are a glorious yellow, the butterflies 🦋 dance in the sunshine, the sky is bright blue, nature at its finest, simply a delight. 🥰 We didn't quite finish the loop, so we stopped at a beer garden and treated ourselves to an ice-cold Sauergespritzen, whoosh! 🧊🍏 Tonight, another first awaits us: the first night in our roof tent! ⛺️😊
After a long corona break, the hikers of the Vogelsberger Höhenclub (VHC) Laubach were on their way again. For the "start" of the hiking season we had chosen the Vogelsberg extra tour "Wiesenweg" near Lauterbach-Maar. This approx. 12 km long route is very easy to walk, it is perfectly marked and offers the hiker a great view. At the end of the hike, of course, a stop could not be missing. For this we had chosen the Ristorante La Piazetta in Lauterbach. With very good food and nice service, we had a great end to the day. Have fun hiking
