After a smooth train ride we arrived in Oudenaarde around 9:30 am. We walked through the center and did some shopping for the road. We crossed the Scheldt via a hydraulic bridge and soon ended up in greenery. And yes, when you leave from the water, you almost have no choice but to go up. Some parts were steep, but all in all the scrambling wasn't too bad. About the time of our lunch break, we saw a wooden spool-turned-table and two chairs: there is no such thing as a coincidence... After our picnic we walked further between fields and meadows, with the occasional patch of forest. We turned west to walk through the Muziekbos to Ronse. There we did our shopping for our evening meal and walked the last kilometers to our Campspace. We received a warm welcome from Heidi and Tim, and settled in the orchard. A delicious pasta with everything, prepared on our gas fire, ended the day. Our legs and feet urged us to go to sleep early, and so we did.
Beautiful train walker that guided me along all kinds of paths over mountains and through forests.
Just a little too much ash fall to walk on. Very beautiful surroundings.
