With this simple itinerary we take you to the heart of the Costa Smeralda, along the ancient paths of the stazzi, typical rural settlements that were the fulcrum of rural life in Sardinia for hundreds of years until the last century. Given the abundance of heavenly beaches, don't forget your swimsuit: the inviting waters of Sardinia will welcome you pleasantly from mid-May until October.

From the Romazzino hotel car park, follow the dirt road through the fragrant Mediterranean scrub. At the first crossroads, you can take a short detour to Poltu Liccia beach. The main route instead climbs towards the saddle between the Zoppu and Li Muntareddhi mountains. From here, a path quickly leads you to the Ciccu Biancu stazzo.

Shortly afterwards, you find yourself along the coast, in front of the altar of the Madonna dello Speronello. From here, follow the coast intuitively until you reach the stunning Grande Pevero beach. Continue south across the dunes and take the dirt road again, ignoring some minor intersections.

The path now takes you to the ruins of the Muntareddhi stazzo, until you reach Lu Rotu, a paved clearing once used for the ventilation and winnowing of cereals with the help of horses or cattle. Continue south for a short stretch until you find the asphalt road that will take you back to the starting point in a few minutes.

Coastal path to Poltu Liccia Beach

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A lot of the path at the coast is not there anymore. We ended up climbing over rocks along the coast - was not easy! - stunning views - but please consider this as intermediate to hard rather than easy

Sandy trail at Grande Pevero

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

In a picturesque crescent-shaped bay in the heart of the Costa Smeralda is the Grande Pevero beach, one of the most fascinating and exclusive in Sardinia.

The path emerges from the Mediterranean scrub, embracing the sands of the beach before immersing itself again in the green of the bush. A refreshing dip is a must to beat the heat.

Lu Rotu

Highlight (Segment) • Historical Site

The paths in this area are full of history: in particular there are the ruins of the Stazzo di Muntareddhi and Lu Rotu.

The stazzo is a typical rural settlement that was the fulcrum of the rural life of thousands of Sardinian shepherds-farmers for hundreds of years until the last century.

Lu Rotu is a paved clearing where once the ventilation and winnowing of cereals was carried out with the help of horses or cattle. Of course, all this history is made even more interesting by the stunning sea views.
