Village and Sea loop

The Steinhuder Meer - is it connected to the North Sea or the Baltic Sea? Not to any sea at all! This 29 square kilometer lake stretches northwest of Hanover and attracts thousands of nature lovers every year as a holiday and excursion destination. On this hike you will get to know Mardorf, a small resort within the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park. You start directly on the shore at the "Sehbrücke" and follow the circular hiking trails M1 and M2 in Mardorf's town center. Visit the beautiful half-timbered Christ Chapel or treat yourself to a break in one of the inviting restaurants and cafés.

The walk continues past meadows, forests and smaller bodies of water, so you get to know the entire diversity of the nature park. On the way to the Steinhuder Meer you can believe your eyes when you suddenly see an oversized fly agaric. This is "Klück's Pilz", a cute bistro right on the water, perfect for a while. There is also a long jetty here, which makes this setting seem almost Caribbean when the weather is good.

The circular route stretches over three and a half kilometers of flat land and is therefore suitable for all fitness levels. If you want a bit more action or are traveling with children, you can get active in the climbing park, play mini golf or go on a boat tour. You are guaranteed not to get bored here.
