This route was planned by komoot.
It would have been great if the notice about the completely closed bridge at the Gnevsdorf weir had come earlier and been clearer, including for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion sign for the Elbe cycle path only comes AFTER the construction site. So when you HAD already taken the other route. As it was raining and raining and I really didn't feel like doing an extra 30 km, I went back and took the train to Wittenberge in Glöwen. I have rarely wanted a Brompton so much. I would have just taken the bus from Havelberg. A fantastic route along the Elbe dyke nonetheless. Densely populated with all kinds of water birds: ducks, geese, storks, cranes, herons... a chirping of crows and screeching
Headwind without end and in the end my train is cancelled. I don't know yet if and when I'll be home
Then there were only two. Early start as the weather promised to be warm. Did it keep the promise. And there was a long way ahead of us. In the end it was 92 km; the temperature climbed to 32°C and we were on the dike between Havelberg and Wittenberge. Then we had to be really strong. Unlike on the Elbe Cycle Tour, we had no headwind this time and made good progress. We were happy about the storks, the swallows that gathered on the power lines (without a big troublemaker in between 😂), listened to the starlings, visited churches and thus reached the mouth of the Havel into the Elbe. We continued along the Elbe to Wittenberge, where we ended up sitting outside with a cool drink and being happy that everything went well.
It was another great tour, powered by a strong tailwind. 👍😊 So it was easy to complete without much effort.
