How about an overnighter? Or just see how far you can get? On the gently sloping cycle path directly along the Sieg, you can reach car-free beer gardens, cosy bathing areas and campsites. At regular intervals, train stations along the route offer you the opportunity to return by train. And this is how you get out: - from home (e.g. from Cologne or Bonn via the Rhine cycle path) - Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte stop (Troisdorf), RB 27 - Siegburg train station, RE 9 / S 12 / S 19
Today we are travelling by bike and with an auxiliary motor. We are going downstream from Schladern station to the mouth of the Rhine at Mondorf. Until then, however, we are once again frustrated by the German railway, diversions and a bit of a headwind. The Sieg valley is indescribably beautiful and, in addition to the cycle path, offers great views, places to stop for refreshments and always close to the water... Perfect!
Siegradweg.....always a sooooo wonderful tour...actually everywhere. Start in Schladern, (DB)...here a short detour to the Sieg waterfall...and then further...through a wonderful river meadow landscape to the Rhine. From here on the Rhine Cycle Path to Cologne or the Rhine ferry Mondorf.. to Hersel....here Kvb line 16 to Cologne.
By train from Troisdorf to Windeck-Rosbach, then back downstream.
Very nice cycle path to Hennef (Sieg), after that it unfortunately gets relatively loud because the cycle path runs along the motorway. Unfortunately, there are also few places to stop for refreshments from Hennef. Only again at the restaurant to the victory ferry. The short detour to the victory falls in Schladern is well worth it. There is also an alternative location with good food 😋
A beautiful tour in wonderful weather conditions from Schladern station to Hersel station along the Siegradweg. Komoot exaggerated the altitude difference. Thanks to nice companions. 🙏🏻
Overall result: worthwhile. The Siegtal is very beautiful and there is mostly a dedicated cycle path or this section is on side roads. Exception: from Au to Roßbach. So if you travel by S-Bahn, you don't need to go to the last stop, but rather get off in Roßbach. This saves you 5km on the country road without any significant views. Have fun cycling. And really liked it.
