This beautiful loop departing from Arcachon station leads to the discovery of some of the wonders of the Arcachon Basin. The largest oyster farming center in Europe and a major tourist destination, this exceptional natural site is home to a wide diversity of marine ecosystems and more than 260 species of birds.
The route begins with the seafront of Arcachon and its beautiful Eyrac beach, close to the port and the city center. Then you head towards the charming Moulleau district and its beach. This offers a view of your next objective: the emblematic Grand Site de la Dune du Pilat. Majestic and imposing, the largest dune in Europe (106 meters above sea level) is a protected natural area, offering a breathtaking panorama of the basin, the forest and the Atlantic Ocean. Park your mount in the main parking lot which borders it and climb to the top via the stairs.
You won't regret taking on the steep climb, as the panoramic view at the top is breathtaking. Your gaze travels between the Banc d’Arguin, Cap Ferret, the Arcachon basin, the Atlantic Ocean and the Landes de Gascogne forest.
The rest of the route crosses the majestic Landes de Gascogne forest and its many emblematic pines. This green break ends as you approach La Teste-de-Buch, the final town before your return to the banks of the Arcachon Bay. This seaside resort has all the amenities to welcome you in the best conditions. Note that along the entire route there are lively terraces, colorful markets and gourmet breaks available to you.
