🥾 Opening Hike 2026 of the Eschenstruth Mountain Club With 16 hiking enthusiasts and one four-legged companion, we kicked off the new season at the Burg Hanstein hiking parking lot in Bornhagen. Despite snow, fog, and slippery conditions, our guide expertly led us along the trail. A mystical atmosphere, snow-covered paths, highlights such as the Six Country Oaks, the Lindawerra Viewpoint, and the King Kong Rock – plus a legendary stop at the Devil's Pulpit Inn 🍲🥖 A thoroughly successful start to the new hiking year! 😊
3 days nature park Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Birthday party to the Teufelskanzel with a visit to the inn...
Top hiking trail Hanstein-Teufelskanzel with 3 stamps for the Touringen stamp booklet.... I've been up there many times, but I didn't know parts of this trail. I find the stamp box at the Friesenweiher "hmmmm" strange corner, I think that this stamp would have been better suited to the Junkerkuppe or the Teufelskanzel. The pond is somehow nothing special. Otherwise a nice circular tour, mostly through the forest. And at the end I made a little detour to the butcher's shop in Bornhagen and can highly recommend it.
TOP Hiking Trail - Hanstein-Teufelskanzel (Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park) ------------------------------ "Quality Trail for Hiking in Germany" https://www.naturpark-ehw.de/aktiv/wanderwege/top-wanderweg-hanstein-teufelskanzel.html ------------------------------ > Entrance Fee - Hanstein Castle: €3.50 > At the gate of Hanstein Castle (Touringen Stamp Station No. 339) > Friesenweiher (Touringen Stamp Station No. 340) > Lindewerrablick (Touringen Stamp Station No. 341) -------------------------------
Today we did one of the TOP hikes from the Hanstein car park 😮😆👍😎🫶. Hanstein Castle - Teufelskanzel and tour of the castle for €3.50 per adult. The hike is highly recommended. Just a few meters away you have great views of Hanstein Castle 🥰☀️. Then it continues through the forest, with its now bright green, vibrant leaves, to the Teufelskanzel. There you can enjoy sensational views of the Werra loop 🥳🤩. The Werra is shaped like a U there. There is a restaurant nearby, which was unfortunately closed on April 23, 25. It is beautifully situated in the forest. The hike continues up through the beautiful forest. Later you reach the highest point of the Höheberg, the Junkerkuppe, 511m. From there it is initially downhill. You should definitely make the detour to the Lindewerra. From there, you'll enjoy a fantastic view of the Lindewerra, a small observation tower, information boards, several benches, and a wooden lounger. A good place for a rest. Continue back a bit and then head towards Hanstein Castle. You walk around it a bit and also get some beautiful views of the castle from below. Finally, there's a castle tour for €3.50 per adult. It's definitely worth a visit. Events and festivals are held there regularly. Weddings and celebrations are also possible there. It was a great hike with some lovely highlights.
Starting relatively early in the morning, we had the Teufelskanzel all to ourselves and enjoyed the view of the Werra Valley, still slightly under the mist. We then reached the Lindewerrablick via the ridge path. The path back into the valley turned out to be quite muddy in places, but it was more interesting than the slab path that runs parallel. As far as Bornhagen, views of the valley and Hanstein Castle opened up again and again, where significantly more cars and people had gathered after our return.
The circular hiking trail begins on the edge of Rimbach. From here you can take a detour to the Hanstein castle ruins. This landmark of the Eichsfeld in the border triangle of Thuringia, Hesse and Lower Saxony is probably over 1,000 years old 👀🛕 You then hike down to Bornhagen to get to the Friesenbachweiher. The Green Belt continues through the forest to further highlights of the hike: To the Lindewerrablick, high above the Werra over the Junkerkuppe to the Teufelskanzel 👹💧🌳 After that, you can relax and walk back down through the forest to the starting point 🥾 For the collectors among you, there are 3 Touringen stamps (No. 339-341) to discover on this tour 🔎📮 Special features of the tour: Great views / Geological highlights / Botanical highlights / Cultural highlights / Faunistic highlights Source: https://www.wanderbares-deutschland.de/wege/alle-wege/top-wanderweg-hanstein-teufelskanzel-05233e2807
Today I had the idea of hiking one of the TOP hiking trails in the Eichsfeld region, also because the bus connections are more likely to be available on weekdays. My choice quickly fell on Bornhagen, as I wanted to have another look around before the state elections. The tour is definitely highly recommended. I had already visited Hanstein Castle a few years ago, but it is always worth it. The inn at the Teufelskanzel was already closed, but I found the view of the Werra loop very impressive. This was followed by a very beautiful ridge path to the Lindewerrablick, which was also a good place for a short break. Then I went back to Bornhagen via the Friesenbachweiher. Since there were no more buses running, I hiked to Ahrenshausen without recording, where the RE2 went to Erfurt.
