Just like Lolland, the island of Falster also offers wonderful hiking opportunities. One of the most beautiful short tours takes you through the raised moor of Horreby Lyng. After just a few meters you will reach a lovingly designed nature information center where you can find out lots of interesting facts about the history of peat mining and the flora and fauna in the moor. And as befits a decent moor area, there are of course those wonderfully photogenic wooden plank paths that I love so much. Right and left they are decorated with an incredible number of pretty mushrooms. At the moment the heather flowers are in all their glory. The strong purple of the heather harmonizes perfectly with the crooked pine and birch trees that line the path everywhere. Sandy forest paths alternate with wooden footbridges through the nature reserve. Small but nice! A varied and relaxed walk through a natural jewel that I can definitely recommend! Danger: Due to the stagnant water, Horreby Lyng is of course also very popular with mosquitoes, so you may want to pack an insect spray. Also keep an eye out for all other living creatures such as dragonflies, butterflies, frogs, snakes and lizards. And here you can find my detailed blog article with many more tips and beautiful places on Lolland and Falster: https://www.couchfug.de/lolland-falster-daenemark/
